I think you have a slim shot at Penn ED (it's hard to say, they've accepted a 3.4x/171 ED before, but that applicant was also from an Ivy undergrad and Penn tends to give a boost to Ivy applicants) but that ED would be more wisely used on UVa or Michigan.jjpp wrote:I dropped out of high school for a semester during which I took several courses at a community college. After returning to high school and completing my diploma, I continued to take courses at the community college. An unmotivated, distracted student, I finished with a dismal 2.6.
A year after graduating, I moved to the east coast to start fresh and with a 3.55 at a new institution, I transferred into a top 20 undergrad where I will graduate this next spring with around a 3.75.
I have strong softs and strong LORS, a decent personal statement, and a 171 on the October administration. My grades however will be calculated as a 3.35.
My top choice is Penn and the remainder of my list include UVA, Michigan, Duke, Cornell, Georgetown, UCLA, and Notre Dame. Is Penn beyond my reach even with an ED? Should I instead ED to UVA or even elsewhere entirely?

Incorrect. UVA doesn't have an ED deadline and neither does Georgetown for that matter.magicman554 wrote:jjpp wrote:LSN shows 3.21/171, 3.37/170, 3.32/170 acceptances at Penn ED. The ED deadline would be over by then for UVA, and for any school for that matter.
If I were you, I'd apply ED to Penn. You've got a decent shot at Michigan, UVA, Cornell, etc. anyway without ED.

This is what I did. 3.3/171. EDing to UVA now will give you a very good chance of acceptance and it will def. put your mind at ease lol. I'm very worried that UVA will be hopeless by the time I hear back from Pennjjpp wrote:LSN shows 3.21/171, 3.37/170, 3.32/170 acceptances at Penn ED. LSAC only counts your GPA until you graduate...the first time.
