160/3.95

Since LSAT scores for Oct. came back, I've been getting a ton of emails encouraging me to apply to different schools, and they've been enticing with the offer of a waived admission fee. For the most part, these are schools have medians around or below my numbers. However, I was surprised to see one from U.Va, saying I had an impressive record, and they would like me to apply, with no app fee. Before this email they weren't really on my radar. I would have thought my LSAT was too low. Do I realistically have a chance, or are they just toying with me. I'd hate to apply and get a letter back saying: "lol jk, you didn't think we were serious did you?". I'll post some fast facts below:

3.95 GPA
160 LSAT (153 on first)
White/Male
Alabama resident
Honors college, if that matters.
assorted honor societies and multiple volunteer activities.

Should I really even apply or attribute it to junk mail? The law school predictor gave me a "weak consider," but I was hoping someone could offer more concrete insight. Thanks in advance.

Also out of curiosity, how would these nubmers do for me at North Carolina?

Fee waivers don't mean anything.

Retake; don't waste the awesome GPA.

I just really can't connect on logic games. I probably would do less than 5 points better at best. Thanks for the info on the Fee waiver's it just seemed odd to me for such a prestigious school to send me that for no reason. Any other opinions out there? Any thoughts on UNC with those numbers?

I thought they meant a school wanted to raise their applicant volume, rejection rate, and USNWR ranking?

probably WL or rejection at UNC given that you're out-of-state

I agree that it's a slim chance but I think it's worth the $12 to apply if you have some interest in attending. You never know, especially if the rest of your application is very strong. Also, if you did poorly on the SAT/ACT, you could write an addendum about not being good at standardized tests and they may take that into consideration.

They won't care.

You have a slim chance at UVA ED. But you should still retake.

Logic games is the easiest section of the LSAT to improve on. Have you used the Logic Games Bible? Drill, baby, drill.

To be honest, UVA gives out a lot of fee waivers. I was at a law fair and talking to their admissions people and they were willing to give me one not even knowing my numbers. I had already got one unsolicited from them however, and my #'s are very similar to yours.

Pressing question: at his raddest, was Tom Cruise radder than RadLaw?

Hard to say. His characters in Risky Business and Top Gun at least are radder than me.
