Yes, you have a shot. Based just on people with your numbers on LSN last year, I would estimate about 20% at Harvard, 40% at Columbia, and maybe an 80% at NYU. Softs are important, though. You basically need a perfect application to outweigh your below-mean LSAT score.

People get in with your numbers, but usually with great softs. Even those with average softs will have something more than you currently have, such as interesting work experience, a prestigious UG (Ivy or similar), etc.

+1, If you want to give yourself a good shot at Harvard OP without taking a couple years off I'd consider a retake if you think you can score 3 or more points higher. That said, with your numbers you will likely get into a great school even if it isn't HYS.

Yes, there's an advantage. Go ahead and ED if you'd take Columbia over lower schools with money.

I got T6 minus Y with a 167/171 and a 3.91. I put a damn fine application together though...

No because I am EDing there with 3.8/172 and you might take my spot.

All joking aside, if you are intent on Columbia and would be happy going there for sure and are not that worried about financial aid then you should ED to Columbia. I've heard the difference is small so if you aren't sure don't bother. Also a retake on the LSATs a few points higher (173+) would put you within Harvard range. 3pts isn't a huge jump either!

yes, but since harvard averages, I would need a 174 + which is a bit of a jump, I think I can do a 172 or 3 as my nerves got me on about 3 q's on the october but 174 or 174+ I don't have confidence in. What do you think are my chances at Columbia w/o ED'ing?
