Stats:
3.9 GPA from a no-name liberal arts school; poli sci major
Master's degree in public policy (economics focus) from a top 10 school
170 LSAT (1st attempt: 167)
3 years solid work experience doing policy analysis
Not URM but GLBT

Top choices are Chicago (planning to ED) and Berkeley. Planning to apply to Harvard and Stanford as reaches, though I know Yale is pretty much out. I'll probably apply to Northwestern, Georgetown and Penn as well.

My question is, should I apply ED to Chicago or just go with RD? LSP puts me as "strong consider" at Chicago with ED, but "consider" without it. I feel like I can't really count on Berkeley, so I'd like to make sure I get into Chicago if I can. Thoughts?

You should ED to Chicago, of that's your top choice.

Yeah, I'd just have a heart attack if I end up getting in at Harvard or Stanford but can't go because I did ED. I'm sure I'll still do it though. Thanks for the reply!

Well you most likely wouldn't hear from H or S before you hear from your Chicago ED decision, so that's not a huge worry. While both H and S get back to applicants starting fairly early, the ones that hear first are usually the auto-admits - i.e, LSAT/GPA > both medians at minimum. ED to Chicago is TCR.

Good point. Hadn't thought of that. Thanks!
