I just got back my October LSAT scores and was somewhat surprised to find that I had gotten a 154 after PTing low 160's during and after a Testmasters course. Sucks, I know, but I'm planning on retaking in December. Looking back on October I completely f'ed up the logic games, which is usually my high point so I expect to get around a 160 on the retake assuming I don't screw something else up. As far as my stats go, I'm a Native American, small town, 3.3 GPA with major improvement (from 2.8 freshman GPA to 3.8 junior year), 154 LSAT. Stanford's pre-law advisor just told me I had an "excellent personal statement," so I feel pretty confident there.

Anyway, I just applied early decision to Santa Clara and was wondering what you all though my chances were. I'll be applying to USF, Hastings, UC Davis, Berkeley, UCLA, and USC. I hope to get in to Santa Clara, USF, and maybe Hastings, but with a good personal statement and the whole underrepresented minority thing going for me who knows where I might get in.

So what I'm wondering from fellow forum members is: Am I too confident to think that I have a good shot at getting into Santa Clara ED/ should I even bother applying to hard-to-get-into schools like Berkeley USC and UCLA???? Thanks for your time guys.
right now berkeley USC and UCLA are out of your range
study hard and retake in December. You can do it! people so frequently underestimate how HARD and LONG people with 170+ tend to study.
If you can get a 165 OP, then your entire law school list will be dramatically transformed.

I don't know about a 165, but I'll see what I can do in 6 weeks. What do you think about my shot at Santa Clara ED? I would be more than happy to go there and I want to stay in the SF bay area after undergrad if possible.

I think it's decent 50/50 as long as you write a good DS

native americans get the biggest URM boost. If you can get 3-5 more pts, i think you will be able to get a t14 and wustl/gw full scholarship.

Really, a 157/3.3 getting into the T14 or netting a full scholarship at a T20? This strikes me as an unrealistic assessment.

Don't waste your URM status. Study your ass off & get that LSAT above a 160.
