3.9, 172 - What are my chances?

Hi everyone.

Pretty much I have > 3.9 GPA, a 172 LSAT and mediocre softs.

Just wondering what my chances are for T-14. Law school predictor seemed a little optimistic, so I'm wondering if TLS can bring me back down to earth.

Also, any chance at a scholarship at any T-14? I'm not holding my breath, but it would be really helpful.

LSP may seem "optimistic", but it's because it uses actual data/applicant results. So you should be "actually" optimistic about your cycle. Unless you did literally nothing other than study for your classes during undergrad, you're going to have a good cycle and get decent $$ somewhere in the T14.

EDIT: Even if you did that, you're still going to have a good cycle

Butttt if you want someone to bring you down to earth
172? You're a joke dude. You're not even 99th percentile. You're at 98.6 man.. cmon
And that GPA.. are you kidding me? Why don't you have a 4.0? At this point you should reconsider law school. Wal-mart has good benefits for its full time employees

Law school numbers is generally a better tool than LSP: http://www.lawschoolnumbers.com/

I'd say you're basically in at Columbia on down. HYS are not out of the question, but your chances there are lower. Not sure where you should look for scholarship money.

PS -- Old Greg is creepy as shit.

Thanks a lot guys!

Does it make a big difference that my 172 was a retake?

(I heard it is very important at YHS, but I don't think I have a reasonable shot at those schools, even if this was first try)

Rumor has it that the only top school still actually averaging LSAT scores is NYU. What was the first score?

And are you familiar with the tale of the Crack Fox?

First score was 164 (I took some bad advice and took it once as a "test run" without hardly studying).

I am not familiar with the Crack Fox... what is it?!

Yeah, it's pretty much awesome, in the most disturbing way possible. "Look, I couldn't do that, alright -- these are new boots, they cost a lot of money."

Anyways, congrats on your numbers! You should have a good cycle. Just don't fuck it up with a typo or something.

Yale - out
Stanford - small chance depending on softs
Harvard - 40-50%
CCN and lower - in

Do you really think there's a 50% chance at Harvard? I mean, I'm not even at their LSAT median...

And my softs are probably fine for the average person, but not great for a future law student.
