You're pretty much at the 25th for GPA and above the 75th for LSAT, so I bet you have a pretty good chance without ED. I'm not sure if they give much money to ED applicants though

You have a ~70% chance at Columbia, possibly with a small amount of money (~$30k). Personally I'd just do the ED to boost my chances.

where did you get $30k from? columbia doesn't give merit unless it's 50% or full tuition. if OP doesn't meet criteria for either he will be relying solely on need-based aid
to OP: your chances at HYS are slim barring some undisclosed fulbright or URM/military boost, i dont think you need ED to get accepted, but if you are risk averse and want to be in NY, then it's worth considering

thanks for the help!
just a quick question to irie: how do you know for a fact about columbia's merit aid? i feel like i've read that somewhere before but have been hearing differently up till now. so all the $$ on lsn that are 30k or 10k are all need-based?
thanks again, bc whether i decide on ED is pretty much riding on the possibility that i might lose the opportunity for a little bit of cash if i do RD. probably not even applying to HYS :]
