3.96 / 165

Just scored a 165 on the October LSAT. I live in Florida, and I'll be applying to UF, but I was wondering if it's worth applying to any T14s? I've looked on the website calculations, and one said Cornell was still a 50% chance, so that's hopeful. And NYU's at 30%? This seems completely unrealistic to me.

you have a great gpa. I would apply as high as NYU and then down. You will get something good.
So michigan down in the t14. Then apply Vandy/USC/UCLA. You will get something there. Those schools love high GPA kids. THen apply to a couple of schools in the ND/emory/wustl/UIUC/fordham/gw range....
Then you can negotiate scholarships.

Thanks for replying! The fact that I have any shot at all at NYU is pretty exciting.

This is so weird! I have the exact same GPA and I just got the exact same LSAT score! I was also wondering if I have any hopes for t14 schools. Unfortunately, my LSAT isn't good enough for my dream schools (Stanford & Columbia), but I'd be thrilled if I could get into NYU! I think I'm cutting it too close though.

Wow! What a coincidence. My dream school was Columbia, as well, but seriously, NYU would be epic. I'd honestly be happy with any T20. I was just curious about maybe which schools focused more on GPA or other factors that would work to my benefit.

The poster above is being far too optimistic. You aren't getting NYU, no chance. Your only bets at t14 are Berkely, Cornell, and maybe Duke or Mich. But your shots aren't good at any of them. Definitely, less than 50%. Probably, pretty miniscule for Duke and Mich. But, you will get into some schools 15-20.

Thank you for being blunt. What do you think are the chances for USC or UCLA?

I didnt say NYU was likely. People have been WLed in with your stats. check the graphs. ANytime i see people getting wled means that there is at least a little hope. non urm too.

I definitely wasn't being too optimistic. My first reaction to the 165 was that there was
no chance. Now I'm seeing that NYU is possible but highly unlikely. I'm also seeing that I have some chance at a couple of others in the t14, like you said, Berkeley (which I'd love) and Cornell.
Overall, there's just a big disparity between my GPA level and my LSAT score level. My plan of action is to send strong apps out to places like Fordham, GWU, Emory, which my scores are in range for, and to also send out a few apps to reach schools -- not HYS or anything, but to top schools where people with my numbers have gotten in before. If I'm not satisfied with the ones I get accepted to, I can just work on improving my LSAT score. I just wish I knew about TLS earlier so that my LSAT prep was more rigorous!

Too optimistic. 165 is like a dead zone. Vandy is WL, probably USC and UCLA too.
If you want T14, I'd retake. 3-4 more points would be great for you.
