During September, my PT average was a 173, across about 15 tests. Should I seriously consider retaking in December? I felt pretty great about the October test, but it seems I overestimated my performance significantly. I'd be pretty saddened to have it happen again that way.

Thanks for your help.

If you are averaging a 173, I would seriously consider a retake. You need to figure out why you scored 10 points below your PT average, and address it if you do retake. Don't just study in the same way.

If you really want those schools on your list you should retake. If you don't mind aiming slightly lower, you could keep your score. But it is unlikely you will get in to any of those schools with your current LSAT score.

GPA: 3.6
LSAT: 165
Two strong LORs. Decent internship and managerial position while still in UG. Other than that, decent softs.
Looking at:
Reach: Vandy, Cornell, WUSTL, Notre Dame
Target: UIUC, Wisconsin, Iowa, IU-B
Safeties: Loyola Chicago, DePaul

What does the magic 8 ball say?

URM cycle will likely be unpredictable. I'd recommend retaking. If you could score a 160+, it would open up some more doors for you, especially with that strong GPA from a strong UG institution.

LSDAS GPA - 3.3
LSAT - 172/164/157
URM - No
UG - Harvard
Work Exp - Peace Corps, Full-time summers and 35 hrs/week during school
Softs - 6 years of community work in one field.
School List - Fordham, BC, BU, Cornell. Want to work in Boston.
Strong soft factors including HYPS UG and Peace Corps, will likely result in a slight bump compared to the average 3.3/172.

In:
Cornell, Fordham, BC, BU

Recommendation:
Aim higher. If you're not getting rejections, you're not aiming high enough. Should shoot for some T-14 schools, definitely. Will likely get $$ at lower ranked schools though.

Out at H/S this cycle.

No shot at Y with 165, better shot if retake goes well (no rolling admissions)

Your cycle is a little harder to predict because of your foreign transcript. You should add some schools that take LSATs in your range more frequently.
