Thanks for the advice, guys. I'd rather not leave this info up here, but I may post again when October scores come out.

I'd say you've got a good shot, especially if you broke 170.

I think your app sounds great. I am not sure how much extra credit you will get for being LGBT though, since URM is already a huge bump. Either way looking at the numbers it looks like you are competitive, especially if the retake is as high as you expect.

Hard to know without an October LSAT score (could change where you get in of the CCN).

Even if you break 170, there's a big difference between a 175 and a 170 (or even a 171 or a 173).

I sincerely hope you don't think that the number of drafts a piece of writing has been through correlates with how well written it is. Not trying to be catty, just pointing out that this doesn't make any sense.

Apart from that, it sounds like you'll get into some really great schools. Good luck!

I think that as a URM with some compelling diversity stuff to write about, you should submit apps to all of the T6 regardless of how your LSAT comes back. A higher LSAT will certainly help, and it's true that HYS tend to generally frown on low overall GPAs, but if they're going to overlook that for anyone, it's probably going to be you.

I'm not saying your odds are strong, just that the chance is realistic enough that it's worth the app fee.

Apply to the top 6. I have a similar background (ish). Gay rights, PS about my experiences (I thought a DS would be redundant), I also got a 167, then a 171. My GPA was high, but I'm also white. With apps on the margins like ours, you gotta at least throw your hat in the ring. I made the T6 minus Yale.

Worked one summer as an engineering intern for a major oil corporation in the bayou of Louisiana.

I don't know how well the fact that you caused the BP explosion is going to look.

It would still be a prestigious job. Goldman Sachs is still prestigious as an employer.
