Worst worst case (3.55 158)

Post by tlc » Wed Oct 06, 2010 4:49 pm

I've been averaging mid-to-low 160s for the PTs these past 2 weeks. Today was anomaly and I got a 169 on the Sept '09 PT (one wrong answer was due to mis-bubbling! Stripped me of my 170!). However, worst scenario was this past Saturday where I got a 158. Everything seemed to go wrong.

Would I have a chance at Loyola LA with 3.55 and a 158? Any estimates on what kind of scholarship money at Southwestern?

The rest of my app is pretty decent considering I have 1 really good LOR and a pretty good LOR. I'm also planning on writing an addendum to "Why Loyola" or at least point out specific reasons why I want to attend Loyola in my PS.

I think you would have a decent chance at Loyola LA given your worst case scenario. I am applying there as well and met with one of the admissions people this summer to hear his opinions as to whether I should re-take or not (as you know, they average and I have severe test anxiety and was nervous my re-take would be lower than my june test bringing down my average). He basically said that with just my stats, I would be waitlisted. The decision coming down to my personal statement and letters of rec. I am also applying ED because it is my number one school; something he said would help too, as would being a born and raised midwesterner.

So basically, going off of what I was told, you have a pretty decent chance. Are you seriously considering writing a Why Loyola statement to be included? I guess i never really thought about it, but it probably would be really beneficial, because I have a number of reasons.

Good luck!

If you're capable of score 170, you really should not be going to Loyola or Southwestern. If you score a 158, you should retake. How long have you been studying?

3.5/158 will most likely get you Loyola LA but if you are scoring upper 160s do NOT settle for that school in an insanely oversaturated market.

Take the LSAT and then figure it out.
