180/3.55 + softs

I have a 3.7 GPA from a Chemistry BS + a Music BA (finished in 4 years), as well as a masters' in music that I completed afterward.
LSDAS GPA is calculated at 3.55. Wrote a short addendum because I believe I have legitimate mitigating factors, but didn't beat down the point too much. (Going to assume it's calculated straight at a 3.55, unless I shouldn't?)

Slightly nontraditional student agewise, but no major work experience outside of teaching while at my masters' program (including one class that I was the instructor of record for), as I'm still looking for work. Non-URM - probably ORM really, so no boost there.

I applied to Columbia, NYU, and GULC, and want to know if people think I have any HYS shot at all with what I believe are a very good statement and decent-at-worst references (I took a total of 7 seminars with the 2 profs I'm using as recommenders, so they know me fairly well).

(note: I first created this thread before LSAT score. Early comments below are non-applicable to this situation)

1. Don't count your chickens before they've hatched.

2. Depends on your LSAT.

3. Check http://www.lawschoolnumbers.com

+1. Getting a 177 would make you nearly a lock for every school outside of HYS. But that's easier said than done, even with those PT scores.

Well...the LSAT score's in. Time to revisit the issue...likely to take one shot in the dark because I feel it's worth $90 but probably not more than one.

you'd be insane to not apply to all HYS

Wasn't looking at Stanford but I'm contemplating the other two pretty hard. Good luck with your score!

Congrats on the score! You should easily get Columbia and NYU. As far as HYS, did you go to a top 10 UG? If not, those three tend to have a GPA floor at 3.7, so your chances aren't great. Definitely apply to them though.

Not a top-10. Chem major I'm hoping will boost me.

Incomp, unfortuntaley, unless you have great softs, you are likely out of HYS. But Columbia with money is looking good.

Dammit why do all the people I've already discussed it with find this thread XD

I really don't know how the age thing is going to affect me. That's really all I'm banking on at this point with (most likely) Harvard...
