Without a retake, as your numbers are right now:

ED to UVa or Georgetown.

UCLA is GPA heavy and will likely not look favorably on you (even with a retake, most liekly). Don't bother with Brooklyn, Cardozo, etc - with a 170+/3.0+ you don't need to look lower than the T25 unless you're fishing for $$.

An Illinois degree is great for the Chicago market, but it's fairly regional from what I've heard. I have friends who are getting CBs in DC and CA though, albeit not with top Vault firms. They will probably give you $ to attend.

You have a good shot at Georgetown, I think.

I'd definitely add UVa, possibly ED. I also think you should add other lower T14's for at least a shot.

Northwestern is splitter friendly. People seem to be getting a lot of callbacks in NYC this year from there as well.

Yes, this. I overlooked that you have WE (generally ~2 is good for NW).

ED will help you bump yourself into the T14 - UVa is probably the highest you can reach, though. With another point or two Penn might be in your grasp (ED) as well.

If you are pting 174-177, you should retake. Gaining 2-3 points will make a huge difference in EDing to Gtown, NU and UVA. Your WE is good for NU, but their splitters typically have a little lower GPA (2.9-3), but higher LSAT (173+), so you need to raise the LSAT for NU to be a serious chance. Same goes for Gtown and UVA. They will take the subpar GPA, but only if it hits top 1% (173+).

Obviously, getting the higher LSAT makes you a lock for Midwest schools (Uof IL, WashU), and perhaps BC and BU.

Throwing in my two cents: you have a solid shot at UVA ED so long as you come across as genuinely interested in the school and not just a rankings/prestige whore (not that you do, but I know they like their reaches to want UVA specifically).

I wouldn't retake if I were you, I don't think you have a strong enough case for it helping you enough. And you won't be gettting much scholarship as a splitter. But people last cycle with worse stats then you got into UVA and NW for ED. So I would ED to one of those.

I could claim in-state tuition in VA through my Mom's residency there - would this help my chances at UVA at all?

Yes, it would. I think ED'ing there is your best bet at the best school. Make it clear in your application you want to go there A LOT, and apply as early as possible and I think you will get in.

+1000. That piece of info means UVA ED is definitely your best shot at the T14. When I was there last weekend, Director Faulk noted that VA residency gives one "a huge advantage." They fill 30-40% of their class with residents, so you would complete with a lot fewer people for the same slot.

Thanks everyone for the advice re: UVA - I just didn't even consider it since I figured that I was practically locked out of the T-14. I definitely didn't consider the impact that my mom's residency in VA might have. I'm gonna go for it, ED, as soon as I get my LSAT retake results.

Don't even wait. They'll take 171 / 3.1.

I think if you don't get into UVA ED that you will get into Georgetown. You are above their LSAT median and the family as alumni should push you over the top.

Just my opinion though.

I'm stating the obvious, but only ED to UVA if you're 100% sure it's your top choice and you're not concerned about financial aid. And if you retake and get a 173+, I think that would only increase your chances at some other T14 schools and/or getting scholarship money somewhere. If you've already put in the effort to study for a retake, I would just go ahead and take the test again, especially since it seems like you're doing well on PTs.
