Top Law Schools

Vietnamese residing in NM, English as Second Language, 3.15 GPA, History major, taking the October LSAT (134 diagnostic; Bombed Logic Games and Reasoning) and possibly the December test as well. Looking into Pittsburgh, Indiana, British Columbia, and hometown UNM. What are my chances? Freaking out already, this is the biggest obstacle/challenge in my life so far. HELP!!!

Being Vietnamese is irrelevant.

The LSAT is by far the most important thing right now. What are you PT'ing at? If you really aren't ready for the LSAT, don't take it in October. Honestly, it seems like you may be best off waiting a cycle considering you are so unsure right now. Waiting will give you the option to retake the LSAT and apply early.

Calm down, prep for the LSAT. If you're ready by December, take it then. If you're not, there is always February. Whether you take it in December or February, you will still have time to retake in February/June/September 2011 if you don't get the score you want.

Perhaps u should reconsider law school? It's probably hard to score 170+ if your cold diagnostic is 130+, and with your GPA you can't get into top schools unless its 170+. Are you looking to work for mid/big law firms, or be a DA? What are your goals?

I think your English is the big obstacle you need to tackle. We can discuss some pointers over fried rice and dog meat if you like.

Asian people get hurt on undergrad admissions. White people aren't affected by their race. Black/hispanic/native american are given huge boosts.

So...how do Asians try to use their race in admissions? By hiding it so they won't get penalized?

I can only respond on UNM. You have the advantage of being a resident which helps. However, you are far below medians on GPA and LSAT(diagnostic). If you wish to attend you need you need to bring that LSAT up. Find out whats not working and fix it.
