3.92/169... Help me determine where to ED PLEASE
3.92/169
Other Noteworthy facts:
Foreign citizen with over 12 years experience living in the Middle-East and Israel.
Complete fluency in 3 languages.
Valedictorian of my department at a top 50 national research university.
Currently performing a year of service with AmeriCorps.
I'm not sure if any of the above mean much, as I know this is mostly a numbers game. However, I still wanted to see what poster on TLS would have to say.
As always, I thank everyone in advance for any input.

I would say ED to Columbia or NYU, depending on your preference.

Do I really have a chance at schools ranked that high if I apply ED? I thought my LSAT might be a bit too low for a school like Columbia or NYU.

With those numbers, I would not ED anywhere below Columbia, Chicago, or NYU.

I would feel fortunate to attend any of the T-14.GAIAtheCHEERLEADER wrote:OP, do you have any preferred schools?
However, I particularly like Duke. a close friend attended Duke for UG, and I was always impressed by the school and the Durham-Raliegh-Chapel Hill area when I visited.

Barring a terrible application, you stand a 70%+ shot of admittance at Duke.Bvv5003 wrote:I would feel fortunate to attend any of the T-14.GAIAtheCHEERLEADER wrote:OP, do you have any preferred schools?

This. I had near identical numbers and was waitlisted at Columbia/Chicago, didn't apply to NYU because I changed my mind about wanting to live in New York as a student. The Gentleman wrote:With those numbers, I would not ED anywhere below Columbia, Chicago, or NYU.
OP, I wouldn't be surprised if you get a Priority Track invite for Duke. It's a nonbinding early notification program they have for people with similar numbers. I shouldn't think you'd need an ED to be accepted there.

You will most likely get into Duke RD with those numbers, no problem. You also have a nice shot at Berkeley since they love GPAs, does California interest you at all?Bvv5003 wrote:However, I particularly like Duke. a close friend attended Duke for UG, and I was always impressed by the school and the Durham-Raliegh-Chapel Hill area when I visited.

Why does everyone think they have to ED? If you are not dead set on wanting to attend a T6 over all else you should apply RD in order to give yourself more options. You will likely get into quite a few T14 schools, and then you will have options, rather than being locked into where you ED.

It would help to know of your career goals & where you want to live after law school ?
I assume that you want to apply early decision (ED) to enhance your chances of admission to schools at which your odds are rated, for example, "consider" by lawschoolpredictor.com. If so, a 169 LSAT & a 3.92 GPA are ranked "consider" at Stanford, Chicago, Columbia & NYU.

The previous poster did say this, but you actually have a decent shot at Stanford. Out of all HYS, they place the least emphasis on LSAT and are more GPA driven.vespertiliovir wrote:You will most likely get into Duke RD with those numbers, no problem. Overall, OP, you're going to get into some awesome schools

Recently Stanford Law School announced that it was going to place increased emphasis on LSAT scores.

Yea, and Stanford will actually care about your softs, which seem pretty good. Your LSAT is a little on the low side, but it's definitely worth a shot!GAIAtheCHEERLEADER wrote:The previous poster did say this, but you actually have a decent shot at Stanford. That's unfortunate, lol. But its still definitely worth it to apply. Let's hope the emphasis doesn't increase too much so OP has a better chance.CanadianWolf wrote:Recently Stanford Law School announced that it was going to place increased emphasis on LSAT scores.

Stanford and Berkeley, too. They love GPAs but that's not enough to get you in.vespertiliovir wrote:Yea, and Stanford will actually care about your softs, which seem pretty good. I've read it twice. The first time it was in the law school profile on this website (Top-Law-Schools.com) under Stanford Law School "admissions". The second was elsewhere & may simply have been a post on TLS.com.

Ah, thanks--I read the updated profile. Guess they changed their index formula.CanadianWolf wrote:I've read it twice. With a 3.88 & 168 how can you speculate that your odds are zero when applying ED to Columbia ? I think that it just requires substantial supporting "softs".
P.S. Do you realize how highly intelligent you are ?

Re: 3.92/169... Help me determine where to ED PLEASE
From all that I've gathered I feel like my numbers are a little too low and would be lucky to hit the WL. My softs are pretty good with internships and one very large position I've held in particular, but by resume certainly isn't going to blow away CLS adcomms that have seen it all. I'm working hard to put together application though and am gonna hope for some good luck.CanadianWolf wrote:With a 3.88 & 168 how can you speculate that your odds are zero when applying ED to Columbia ? As for the last line, not sure if that's sarcastic or not?

I'm not sure why everyone is saying only CLS and NYU. UChi is an option as well.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
