How does it look?

Post by DUtrzan » Thu Aug 12, 2010 8:26 pm

Hey Everyone,

I'm going into my senior year, have created an LSAC account, and am starting to send in transcripts along with LOR and other supporting documents. I was just wondering what my chances are of getting into top tier law schools such as the University of Chicago or Notre Dame with the following statistics.

(I'm 21, was born in war-torn Bosnia, lived in Germany 7 years and moved to the United States in early 2000 - as a result, I'm fluent in all three langauges).

Undergraduate Major: Psychology
Major GPA: 3.99
Undergraduate Minor(s): Human Development and Philosophy
Accumulative GPA: 3.704
Class Rank: 30/196
LSAT: Haven't taken yet, would like to know what to score?

Here are my extra curriculars:

Freshman (2007 – 2008)
• Student Government Association – Allocations Committee Chair
• Allocations Committee Member
• Model United Nations Club Member
• JACCE Fellow
• Political Science Tutor
• ACT Proctor
• IT Computer Lab. Assistant
• Distinguished Scholar

Sophomore (2008 – 2009)
• Student Government Association – Allocations Chair
• Allocations Committee Member
• Model United Nations Treasurer
• Psychology Tutor
• ACT Proctor
• Regent Guide – Office of Undergraduate Admission
• IT Computer Lab Assistant
• Founding Member – Rockford College Paranormal Society
• Rockford College Paranormal Society Haunted House for the Rockford Rescue Mission – Turn-out of 160+ guests and 200+ cans
• Club Member of the Year (Model United Nations)
• First-Year Student Mentor (Office of Student Success and Retention)
• Deans List
• Distinguished Scholar
• Winnebago County Public Defender’s Office - Intern

Junior (2009 – 2010)
• Model United Nations President
• Psychology Tutor
• Regent Guide – Office of Undergraduate Admission
• ACT Proctor
• Psi Chi – International Honors Society in Psychology – Inductee
• Orientation Leader
• Transfer Student Mentor (Office of Student Success and Retention)
• Campus Leadership Award
• Distinguished Scholar
• Winnebago County Public Defender’s Office - Intern

Any and all advice is welcome!

Best,

Damir

BLATANT Notre Dame trolling.

Your chances are not very good without an LSAT score. Have you taken a practice one of those yet? I'd say you need about a 174 for Chicago and about a 167 for ND

Yea, I've been practicing and getting in the 160's. I registered to take it but am still stuying. I'm just concerned about "freaking out" during the actual exam and bombing it. Otherwise, I "don't have to" go to ivy league schools, I'm just really concerned about not getting into a ton of debt.

Well yeah, I would just worry about studying as much as you can for the LSAT. It really will make or break your cycles w/r/t acceptances and $$. Don't worry about freaking out and bombing the actual test. I edited my above post to give you an idea of what scores you will need for those two schools..

Thanks, makes sense.

I see you didn't read this thread: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... =9&t=45122

You probably should. UChicago and Notre Dame are very different.
Try looking at http://www.lawschoolpredictor.com and http://www.lawschoolnumbers.com

I'll help you out for UChicago though.
With that LSAC GPA, you'll want 170+ to have a chance, ideally 175+
