GPA and LSAT Medians

In general, where do your numbers (GPA and LSAT) need to be in order to feel good about your chances at a particular school (both above the medians, both above 75th%, one above the median and one above the 75%, etc)??..
I ask because when you look at the graphs on LSN, its sometimes hard to find anyone who got accepted at or below the medians (which is just not adding up in my mind).. Is this due to the unrepresentativeness of the graphs, or perhaps because URM's brought the numbers down a bit??

I've heard that for you to have a reasonable chance at a school you need to have at least one score above the median, so you can improve some of their stats (that's not to say you are ok with an extreme split) but i think if one score is above the median and the other is within the 25-75 you have decent shot

I would define a safety school as my numbers being above the 75th percentile for both
A target school as my numbers being right around the median
A reach shool as my numbers being right around the 25th percentile.

Okay, well that's what I thought, but then I look at the LSN graphs and its a bit unnerving when just about all the acceptances are well above the medians.. I suppose another explanation could be that the more qualified (in terms of numbers) applicants are more likely to participate on that site.. Can anyone explain why the numbers and graphs on LSN dont seem to align?

Law schoools admit people well above their medians, but obviously only the bottom-end of the admitted pool tends to matriculate.

Use this system:
Below 25th: -2
25th to median: -1
Median to 75th: 1
Above 75th: 2
Add your GPA and LSAT.
-3 or -4 Not gonna happen
-1 or -2 Reach
0 OK shot
1 or 2 Good shot
3 or 4 Safety

Ahhhhh, that would explain it.. Thank you for pointing that out.. It had slipped my mind

Probably too simple, as it doesn't account accurately for how most schools value the LSAT > GPA, but I suppose it's decent if you want an all-encompassing rule.

Law School Predictor is basically the 'actual linear regressions instead of made up for a forum post' version.

Nope. This scale is official, and does not fluctuate for anyone or anything.

IA, especially because you have a better chance with a >75LSAT/<25GPA than >75GPA/<25LSAT at most schools.
