What are my chances of getting into Duke? Should I apply early decision
3.6 gpa at a top 30 school
160 LSAT
African american male
really good extracurriculars(law internship in China, state capital, US senate campaign volunteer)

Not good, even as a URM. How hard did you study for that 160? It might be worth a retake; even pulling it up to 167 would do wonders for your chances.

im not sure about duke but my friend (urm) got gulc with 3.5 159 and some decent softs....just try and apply ed somewhere (UVA)

Oh to be clear: still apply if you don't retake. But make sure to apply to some schools in the lower T30 or 40 too.

URM status is a factor in admissions but not nearly as significant as people on here make it out to be, and it's definitely not nearly as significant as LSAT/GPA.
I would still apply ED to Duke but I'd make sure to have a couple safety schools just in case.
