3.44 169 non urm no real regional prefs/ NOT big law or bust

posted here before about law school chances but i want to know opinions and hopefully real world exp about what i can expect scholarship-wise from law schools.

would pretty much go ANYWHERE fairly big city/marketwise w/ decent mid law prospects T! but DEF wanna minimize debt to 0!!!!

any help much appreciated!!!!!!

I would guess that a number of Tier 2 schools will be willing to give you a totally free ride.

At lots of schools, full rides will be reserved for students who have both LSAT and GPA above medians at minimum. Being somewhat of a splitter, you'll definitely get $$, but a full ride may be hard to come by.

i know, the firm im working at now has one person struggling to pass the bar, from what ive heard she was -3.0 -155 from cooley with money

on the plus side she complained her 1st year salary will reach 60k w a myriad of stipulations.

but lets talk about me please.......any hope at 100% at THE ohio state or florida, george mason, uc boulder, hastings, american, case western, asu?

For whatever reason, Iowa gave out pretty much only full rides this cycle. Given your GPA I can't say you would be a shoe-in for a full rideif they end up doing the same thing with their scholarships next cycle, but your LSAT will make you very, very competitive.

take a stab at GW ED, if you get it its an auto full ride...probably be tough but if you write a good PS all about them who knows

There are lots of T2's that will pay any price for that 169. You may have to negotiate though. Apply to lots of schools (including some high-ranked ones that won't give you any money) so as to negotiate with the lower schools.

Gonna be awfully hard to get a FULL RIDE NOTHING LESS!!!!! from a T30 with your GPA.

IIRC from this time last year, this program is solely numbers based and you need to have pretty damn good numbers to get it. I don't think OP can get this.

Try WUSTL, UIUC, IU-B, and a sampling of T2 schools. Someone will buy that LSAT score off of you.

I think Florida State might give you full tuition scholarship with those numbers....

No doubt you can get a full ride at a lot of the schools mentioned to give you a shot enjoying those "mid law" prospects.

You could get a full ride to a TTT but it would have a minimum GPA requirement. So if you didn't perform well they take back the scholarship. I think your best bet would be to accept a very large scholarship with no GPA requirement. This won't leave you with 0 debt but you could keep it at a very manageable amount (>40k).

Also, are you in-state anywhere useful?

We are essentially numbers twins. I only applied in the T30, but I did get 24,000/year from Washington & Lee which got me pretty close to a full ride (and that was before I bumped up my lsat from 168 to 169.) Everyone else gave me 10k/year (BU, WUSTL, Davis) and I was lucky to even break the T14.

I know this isn't the question you asked, but you may want to reevaluate the full ride or bust thing. Being debt adverse is smart, but taking on a small debt load can yield significantly better employment opportunities and when you crunch the numbers over just 5 or 6 year you'll wind up ahead. Apply to schools you'll actually want to attend (and ask for lots of fee waivers) and then make a decision based on your offers. I think if you dip down below the T30 (maybe 50 and lower?) someone will be willing to bite with essentially a full ride offer. Good luck!

1. Apply to every school from which you would be happy to graduate;
2. Look at your scholarship offers.
3. Negotiate scholarship offers to see how much money you can get at your favorite schools.
4. ???

Full ride at a Cooley-ranked t14? Doubt it.

Free law school + Miami tang + beaches = best case scenario.

Given that your not big law or bust, you could easily find a decent job down there and be set up.

Its pretty damn intuitive... but why not I'll bite...but the ones I've seen here...

IUB --> Indiana University Bloomington
UIUC --> University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
WUSTL --> Washington University St. Louis.
GW --> George Washington
BU --> Boston University
Davis --> University of California - Davis

My favorite though, has to be tOSU. Obnoxious.
