Does having a GED and low ACT score matter?

I had a messed up past, and since have revamped myself. I plan to attend Law School for Entertainment Law. I was wondering does a GED and a 13 on the ACT affect my chances at getting into a Top 10 school. Even if my GPA is a 3.5 and LSAT is 170.

If so I plan to take the ACT over again because I achieve a higher score for sure.

Do you have a 3.5 and 170? Because a thirteen on the ACT means you slept thru it and smeared some lead with your cheek, or decided to purposely get all the questions wrong. Seriously, a blind monkey can get a 13 on the ACT. And if your having that much trouble with a test like the ACT and high school, your going to struggle through college, the lsat, and through law school.

But to answer your question, no it won't matter if you can actually do well in those things. But I would seriously evaluate what is a realistic goal.

wait. are you talking about top ten undergrad?

edit: is this flame? I think it has to be.

I would be concerned about getting a job because of your GED. Even manufacturing plants say no to people who have GEDs. Find out if law firms will care; I think ITE, it will hurt you more than it would have a few years ago.

Most schools don't ask for ACT. I don't think GED will hold you back at all.

you have amessed up past? Do you have any serious convictions? Those will hurt you. the ACT means NOTHING for law school, teh GED doesn't hurt bc you have a bachelors degree. only convictions will hurt .

No, GED/ACT do not matter. All that matters is good undergrad GPA, and LSAT score. LSAC doesn't ask for high school transcript.

This doesn't have to be flame. I have a GED and sub 900 SAT. People have reasons and it doesn't have to reflect on your abilities and potential.

I don't think it will hurt, as a matter of fact it shows you can overcome whatever negatives you were faced (if you have done well since then).

I did get in Michigan (couldn't go) so I doubt it hurted me. I look at my GED as the first of many triumphs in life after so many setbacks, I like it more than a regular diploma (apologies to all the trad. grads).

What??? Most places that care about your GED/HS are places don't pay enough to pay rent. I never had a problem getting a job. As a matter of fact, I never had a place ask about, let alone check my credentials. And I worked at Fortune 50's down to startups.

Thanks everyone for the respones. I don't have any convictions my record is clean. I got my GED because I bullshitted through high school, and I only took the ACT to get out of school. Basically I was a kid like many who became a product of their enviorment.

For more information, even though I skipped school a lot. I always read finance, economic and business at the library. So know I am not your average innner city youth.

I really don't want to seem like a cockbag TLS hater, but any person who was able to score a 170 on the LSAT would not have ever scored a 13 on the ACT. The only contingency I'd accept would be that if OP had not been sufficiently taught how to read at the time of the test.

On second thought, I apologize for my above post. It was rude and out of line. I'm in no position to judge the personal circumstances in which you grew up in.

I found that on some of my applications they asked for an approximate SAT or ACT score. I really doubt this matters at all though.

I scored a 13 on the ACT test because
1. I took the writing part which is optional
2. I feel asleep after answering half of the multiple choice questions. And when I woke up I didn't have enough time to complete the writing part and the remaining multiple choice questions so I scribbled down anything. Which resulted in me getting a complete 0 on the writing part, and a below mediocre score on most of the test.

Honestly it doesn't bother me that someone judges the circumstances I grew up in. Look at Omarosa we grew up in the same environment(During my time it, was worse than hers). Now look at her and her accomplishments. From the projects to a job in the White House at the age of 22.
