With no work experience, I'd apply more broadly than just the T10.dfec737 wrote:Hey I've been following this forum for a little while now but have yet to really begin posting, so bear with me. I took the LSAT for the first time this past June of 2010 and did significantly better than I expected. I had originally always planned on aiming for one of BMVP, but now I plan on blanketing the T10 and deciding from there. My softs are okay but nothing extraordinary: Over 100 hours of certified tutoring, V.P. of University Econ Club, some volunteer work, intramural captain, honor societies and substitute teaching. My personal statement should be fairly good (family crisis making me who I am) and decent LORs. The UG university I'm attending is nothing special, just an average public university, probably a little outside the top 100. With all this in mind (mostly unimpressive UG, mediocre softs and applying while still in UG) what kind of chances/options will I be looking at? Any advice on steps to take now until I apply in the fall?
I really appreciate any input and I will gladly share my experiences in the coming cycle. I will also be more than happy to give out any LSAT related assistance/advice, as well as what worked for me specifically. With all my tutoring hours hopefully I can be of some help to future test takers.

LOL too, I read 2.9... Obviously follow Mallard's advice.mallard wrote:Pretty guaranteed at H, good shot at YS, in at CCN.
And LOL at the above.
You're practically guaranteed at H, and you've got as good a shot at the black boxes that are YS as anyone could hope for. I agree with the others, only reason to apply out of the T6 is if you're looking for a free ride. I applied with a 3.95/176 and was accepted to all of the T6 except Yale (albeit Stanford was off the waitlist, but still) with really nice scholarships at CC, if that gives you a frame of reference.dfec737 wrote:Hey I've been following this forum for a little while now but have yet to really begin posting, so bear with me. Oh, and neglected to mention, I was also applying straight out of undergrad with similar softs (I noticed that was a concern of yours after re-reading the posts). You're going to do great. Good luck!pleasepickme wrote:You're practically guaranteed at H, and you've got as good a shot at the black boxes that are YS as anyone could hope for. Haha, don't worry about it I was just giving you a hard time!dfec737 wrote:Sorry if this came off as a post fishing for compliments or along those lines, I honestly didn't mean it to be like that. I was mostly trying to get to the point of whether my relatively unknown university and lack of WE/amazing real-world experiences would hurt my chances at the T6. I apologize and was kind of worried it would come off like this.
What do you think? 10 a year?acrossthelake wrote:My guess is too high.Hey-O wrote:If they don't let you into HYSCCN then who would they accept? The 25 people who had 180/4.0? (Is that number too low or high?)
True 4.0/180s are probably around 10 if not lower, yeah.Hey-O wrote:What do you think? 10 a year?acrossthelake wrote:My guess is too high.Hey-O wrote:If they don't let you into HYSCCN then who would they accept? The 25 people who had 180/4.0? (Is that number too low or high?)
Then I would think less than 10. I wouldn't think that half the people who get 180 have 4.0s.altoidz wrote:around 20 persons a yr get a 180
