if it doesnt hurt u financially and ur sure of getting an A (or A+) i would take the summer class for sure. every bit helps. plus a 3.3 is a B+ not a 3.28Mike12188 wrote:2. Does a 3.3 look much better to Admissions than a 3.28. I can take a summer class and have an even 3.3 by the time I apply in Sept. but I'm not sure it is worth it
UVA is most certainly binding.rklafehn wrote:If Penn is your dream, then ED there (you have about a 25% chance).
It can never hurt to UVA ED because I heard they have a quick turnaround and it is not binding (maybe 30 - 40 %).
You're a coin flip at Cornell.
I would say your best bet (for possible money, likelihood of acceptance, and still a top school) would be BU.
Desert Fox wrote:Yes applying ED early makes a difference. Everyone above 170 and over 3.0 got in if they applied ED early.
You also have a great shot at Penn ED http://penn.lawschoolnumbers.com/applic ... =3&type=jd
If you want Penn > UVa, ED at Penn. If you fail you can late ED at Uva.
If you want UVA > Penn, ED at UVa, and if you don't get it, you'll have enough time to ED at Penn, since UVA responds in 15 days.
If you don't have a preference, do the UVA one first. Since you get a crack at both.
LSAC's predictor isn't great, and ED at penn is a huge helper with an above median LSAT score.Veyron wrote:Desert Fox wrote:Yes applying ED early makes a difference. Everyone above 170 and over 3.0 got in if they applied ED early.

Errr, the LSAC's official predictor gives him less than a 25% shot at Penn. ED can't help THAT much.
UVA is better 4 DC but DC is realy fucking hard to land. If I understand my non-Penn Law NYC biglaw source correctly, Penn is superior for NYC biglaw. You pays your $ and you takes your choice.Mike12188 wrote:Thanks everyone for the replies...but rkl, I'd like to think I have more than a 25% chance, I mean from last years cycle I feel its a 50/50 especially if I apply in Sept/Oct.
DF, all things being equal (markets I want to work in, where I want to spend 3 years of my life, etc.) is Penn that much "better" than UVA. In other words I really would like to attend UVA, I would love to live in Charlottesville, Cost of Living is low and I think its an awesome place. Living in Philly on the other hand I find very unattractive, but would Penn give me a greater chance of landing Biglaw, would it be worth it to stick out Philly for 3 years?
That's funny, I've heard the exact opposite from NYC lawyers: UVA is great for NYC biglaw, and Penn sucks (relatively speaking).Veyron wrote:UVA is better 4 DC but DC is realy fucking hard to land. For big law in general they are pretty much equal. For NYC big law Penn wins out. But we are talking about very small differences.Mike12188 wrote:Thanks everyone for the replies...but rkl, I'd like to think I have more than a 25% chance, I mean from last years cycle I feel its a 50/50 especially if I apply in Sept/Oct.

NYC. It's a NYC big law powerhouse.rklafehn wrote:Where is Penn good? I mean, it had to place good somewhere. It is a t10 ivey school.

His predictions are pretty on target.Veyron wrote:^ Ummmm, no, I think you're a bit confused there about the difficulty of admission to various schools... broham.
Also, it has been said that 171 is a magic # for GULC, I predict a str8 admit.
Which schools? Splitter cycles are extremely unpredictable so I hope nobody's taking any of this too seriously. But FWIW OP and I are basically number twins. And I was WL/in at GULC. Anyway I just picked the results from eyeballing LSN, it's more useful than LSP for splitters.Veyron wrote:^ Ummmm, no, I think you're a bit confused there about the difficulty of admission to various schools... broham.

It just seemed silly when combined with the ND/WL. If the boy is a good Catholic, he'll get ND with much greater prob than MVP ED.beef wellington wrote:Which schools? It's a soft YP. Check their LSN graph.Veyron wrote:It just seemed silly when combined with the ND/WL. Not really, Sept ED to UVa + 3.0+/170+ is as close to a guaranteed acceptance that a splitter getsVeyron wrote:It just seemed silly when combined with the ND/WL.
