Even if you weren't a URM you should be able to grab a T14 spot with those numbers. Since you are, I'd guess you have a fair chance at a T6.

Would it be beneficial to retake the LSAT in October/December after my application is already in?

But you won't have to study as much; You already know the material. I was averaging around 173-174. I plan to take a minimalist approach and try not to tire myself of incessantly looking over questions and sections. Just make sure you retain it and go in and give it a whirl, you already have the comfort of a 170. Perhaps this time around those nerves won't be as rattled.

Who can really say? To each his own. I know that for me its all mental, I know the material...anyone at 168+ really does. I miss easy questions due to silly mistakes I make after looking too long and too hard at LSAT questions. In June I missed 2 questions before 10 on an LR section. Those two questions alone would put me at a 172 and I'd be looking at more school with more scholarship opportunity.

idk about this bro, i got a 170 on the Feb LSAT and foolishly thought I could go up without studying too much. I ended up with a 168 on the June LSAT.
Then again, I was no longer interested in law school so I really half-assed it. YMMV

You just completely lost interest after getting a 170? How did that happen?

I would suggest not EDing to Columbia because I honestly think you might have a shot at HYS with your background/softs/numbers. However, if you really really want Columbia, ED to Columbia and you're practically in, IMO.
