Wondering what to do...recently graduated from a very good liberal arts college with a BS in Management and completed the requirements for History, unemployed at the minute. What kind of school do you all think I'd get into with these numbers? I'd consider taking the LSAT again but frankly am concerned I'd go down because I got a 157 my first time taking it (this isn't like I'm suddenly going to get a 170). Practice LSAT average was around 162 but I've used up a lot of the tests at this point.

Good softs, worked for a former federal judge last summer who went to Gtown and would help, but who knows how far that takes me.

Perhaps get a private tutor (NYC area recommendations?).

Retake. The difference between a 15* and a 16* is enormous.

just for some perspective:
i was 3.7/158 (all background and softs aside)

accepted at: Temple, Tulane, Miami
waitlisted (everywhere in the US): but NYC-ways @ Cardozo and Brooklyn
just to give you an idea also waitlisted at Hastings, American, WUSTL,

im retaking and doing it again since my score expired this year anyways. but you can certainly get into a good school with it, i put a lot of time into my PS and addendums, and also didnt submit apps until like end of december, which is lateish.

they mean the difference between a 159 and 160 is huge, which it is

They actually mean * to be "wild card", or to stand for any integer between 0 and 9.

So, 15* can be 150, 151, 152,...

And 16*, can therefore be, 160, 161, 162,...

Re-writing his/her statement, using the more familiar X as variable:

"The difference between a 15X and a 16X is enormous."

another question following my earlier post: any merit in applying to a bunch of schools and then retake in february or something to try to get off waitlists?

why not study now and prepare for the oct test?

that's a stellar gpa and a 165+ could make your cycle very pretty, and a 170+ could make it beautiful.
