Top Law Schools

I'm going to law school after this next school year; the major question I have is where
I have a 3.45 GPA and it has trended upwards since my freshman year (when it was just a 1. and I made a 177 on the LSAT this year.
I'm going to apply to:
- Cornell
- NYU Law
- Columbia
- Hofstra
- Syracuse

and some other schools, but those are my main choices.
Especially, Cornell, Columbia, and NYU Law.

I know my GPA is low but will my LSAT score make up for that and do I have a shot at Cornell, Columbia, or NYU Law.

Either one of your LSAT scores should work for those schools, yes.

Do you have a 174 or a 177? You either made a typo in your title or in your post.

Second of all, why are you even considering Syracuse and Hofstra with a 170+?

Finally, your GPA is likely too low for Columbia, but it is worth an app. You'll be right on the borderline. Cornell and NYU should be good though, no matter what your LSAT score is. Just put together a solid app.

Yeah it's a typo, sorry guys. My score is a 174, don't know why I put 177 (i wish )

CLS and NYU are definitely iffy, particularly CLS, but I would pick one and ED (probably NYU if you wanted to maximize your chances). The rest should be good, but YP is always an issue at lower ranked schools with an LSAT like that. I would definitely toss a few applications to some other schools in the T14 just to be safe as splitter cycles can be unpredictable.

CLS - reject
NYU regular - reject/waitlist
NYU ED - admit/waitlist
Cornell - admit
Cuse and Hofstra - admit with $$$

I'd consider applying somewhere in between Cornell and Cuse (maybe Vandy?) that would give you money and still provide good job prospects on graduation. Then probably another school between Cornell and NYU (UVA comes to mind) that would admit you in case NYU falls through. What do you want to do with your JD?

I want to thank everyone for the response. I also forgot to mention this but I'm also a URM AA male. I hate the fact that it probably would help my chances, but be that as it may, since it exist might as well take advantage. Being an URM, would that increase my chances at NYU or Columbia more towards accepted or would I still probably be waitlisted.

Thanks for the response. I can assure you I'm not a flame, I just forgot to mention in my original post that I am an URM so I decided to add that to the question.

if you are AA 3.45/174 you should apply 1-5. and then take your pick

.

If you're actually an AA URM with those numbers, I think you have a good chance everywhere, although your GPA will probably be too low for Stanford or Yale. Enjoy Harvard!

FYI - I'm a male URM with a 168/3.65 and got in at HLS despite applying in late December. And your numbers are definitely stronger than mine in that regard.

I can almost guarantee he will get NYU. And Columbia is iffy (not enough points on LSN to draw any conclusions).
