You'll defintely crack the T30. I'd bet money on it.

Top 30 should be no problem, you will most likely get money from them. From what others have said D1 athlete is a pretty decent soft on top of good numbers.

If you don't mind me saying, I think you should try to up your LSAT for a good shot at T6.

90% chance or better at every school above the t14 with great shots at Cornell, Penn, Michigan, Duke, and Berkeley.

You can get in anywhere except probably HYSCCN.. and SCCN might take you depending on soft factors.

I'm in the lower T30 with lower numbers, so I'm sure that you will be fine.

With those numbers you will stroll into the T30, and get money besides. Think about where you want to practice. Apply to T30's in your preferred regions and apply to ALL T14's (if you can afford).

i got in everywhere T20-30 that I applied, with a 3.39 and 167. You'll walk right in with money. Be strategic about ED and apply early everywhere else and you could pretty easily land something from Michigan-GULC.

We have virtually identical numbers, and I got into NU and Cornell, plus waitlisted at Duke, Columbia, and Georgetown. Got substantial $ from UCLA, UT, and WUSTL (full tuition at that last one).

Numbers aren't everything, but they're a big part of the app. Top 30? You shouldn't have an issue unless you're, like, Dick Cheney or something, in which case adcomms will be cowering in fear lest you shoot them in the face.

I guess that fear could work in your favor, though...

You know, that's what everyone said about me, and I'm a CA resident (not that Boalt cares much about that), and they were my fastest turnaround for a rejection. A girl from my UG with the same LSAT and a lower GPA got in...sometimes, this stuff is just ridiculously random.

I had a 3.84, top 10 undergrad, 168 LSAT. Now take this a grain of salt because I applied two cycles ago (2007-2008), before the bottom fell out of the market and law school applications became more competitive, but I got into UVA, Mich, Georgetown, NYU and was waitlisted at Stanford. So if I were you I would blanket the T14, including HYS. I would also add that I would think long and hard before paying significant $$$ to attend a school ranked outside the T14... that sounds elitist, but its honestly the advice I have been getting from many upperclassmen and recent grads about the market.

I'm a 168/3.75, so close numbers. Here's my cycle:

Cornell: Accepted
BU: Accepted (Withdrew before scholarship offer)
Vanderbilt: Accepted with 60k
WUSTL: Accepted with 75k
UIUC: Accepted with full ride
Georgetown: Waitlist
Michigan: Waitlist
Duke: Rejection

My guess is if I had a 3.85, I would have gotten a little more money from WUSTL and Vanderbilt, those waitlists would have turned into acceptances, and that Duke rejection would probably have been a waitlist. Might even have gotten a little cash from Cornell.

Beyond those schools, I'm not really qualified to predict anything. But generally, I think you'll be good for a few T10 acceptances and you'll get big bucks from Vanderbilt on down.

Did you ask for cash at Cornell? I know a number of people last year with lower numbers than yours to whom Cornell didn't give any money at first. Then they said "Hey Cornell, throw me some money," and Cornell said, "Oh, okay. Here."

Anyway, OP, when you get in places, ask for money. Nothing to lose.

I think you could get either Michigan or Berkeley (or a school of similar rank) given your softs and 168 score on the LSAT. Definitely write a tailored personal statement for both schools, and for Michigan (if you apply) DO write the second essay.

It will be a crapshoot at Duke, Penn, UVA, UMich, and Berkeley, but I think if you apply to them all, and write a tailored PS for each, you should be able to get one.

D1 athletics.
Internships, campus stuff, volunteering etc. is stuff that everyone's got. Not everyone is an athlete, and so it stands out a bit more.

Also, it's hard to balance varsity with school, so it makes the 3.85 a bit more impressive.

Ok, gotcha. even with only 2 years? quitting doesn't hurt that soft?
