Hey everybody

I wanted to know where you all think i stand of chance of getting into out of the top 100 schools.

I go to the University of Florida majoring in Poli Sci and econ with a minor in communication studies. I have a 3.85 GPA, good LOR I am a URM and have been scoring in the 165 range on PT which will go up as i am taking the Oct LSAT

Let me know what you guys think

Thanks

First thing to do, don't even think of there being 100 law schools. You've got the GPA, the URM status and potentially the LSAT to be looking strictly at the top 14.

Did you use up all your punctuation in the subject line?

Haha, normally I don't condone people being critical of grammar, but this was so funny that it was warranted.

OP, shoot T30 with a 160+, T14 with a 165+.

I mean, all the other bullshit is nice fringe material, but the LSAT is the centerpiece of any application. Assuming a 165, you should blanket the T14 and not settle for anything below #12.

Realistically, I think (a) you won't get HYS, (b) you might get CCN, (c) you should def get more than one of the rest of the T12.

That having been said, it might be worth applying to GULC, Cornell, and a few sub-T14s to see what kind of scholarship offers you can get. Ask for application fee waivers; almost everywhere will give them to you once you have your LSAT score in hand.

Go to lawschoolpredictor.com and lawschoolnumbers.com, and ONLY compare yourself to other URMs.

You're hitting 165s now. Quit thinking about your admission prospects as a 165/3.85 URM and get your score up. You have until October.

What have you done thus far to prepare for the LSAT? If you can get close to (or especially over) a 170 with those grades and URM the world will be your oyster. In your case it is almost certainly worth a thousand bucks to take a course.

Are you sure you are URM? (I'm not being flippant; it sounds like you are new to the admissions game and sometimes people think they qualify but don't.)

Go gators.

Yeah, after the lofty advice in this thread, it's gonna be a real disappointment to you if you're Asian. You'll be T50 instead of T10.

No URM boost for you... sorry friend.

You may get a little bump but it ain't gonna get you into the T10 with a 165.

You don't have a 165 yet, focus on getting that nailed down before you start getting your heart set on a school.

Someone from Peru is definitely an URM. Don't let these rigid TLSers tell you otherwise. You will receive a boost during admissions.

For LSAC reporting, there is a laundry list of options. On the LSAT bubble sheet there is as well. Each school has its own application and their own list of options. You should put what best applies to you. I'm pretty sure all of them say "check all that apply" for race. Many simply ask "Are you Hispanic?" and then have a separate category for race. So you might say "Yes" and "White." Use your best judgment. GL

If you identify as Hispanic/Latino then certainly put Hispanic/Latino. You don't have to have been born elsewhere to be Hispanic/Latino.

You may not get as big of a boost as some under represented groups, yet you still absolutely qualify as an urm. You should check off whichever box you identify with the most, just make sure to check the same box wherever asked so it does not look like you are changing your mind at worst, or just lack attention to detail at best.

I'm sooooo happy their law school is a Tier Three Toilet.
