Top Law Schools

Realistically, if I want to go to Harvard, what LSAT score, in your opinions, do you think I would need knowing this:

-Graduating UCRiverside, so a public state school
-Environmental Science Major
-Social Science, environmental law focus
-3.91-3.93 GPA
-Performed research in soil chemistry
-Conducted a symposium on my research
-White male
-8 years varying work experience, 5 years in a single job
-Great letters from knowledgeable professors and one from a long time boss
-Some interesting travel/volunteer work

Thank you for your honest opinion, and for taking the time out to give me some peace of mind.

172+ for a good shot.

Harvard's 75th percentile is like 176. You are right at their 75th for GPA. Your softs are nothing special...so it's kind of a crapshoot. A 176 would likely give you a decent shot but nothing is guaranteed when you hit HYS.

Eh...that's true for Yale and Stanford, but not really for Harvard. Their process is fairly predictable. With a 3.9, if you score 175 or higher, you should get in (check out lawschoolnumbers.com). Certainly not a guarantee, but they don't reject too many 3.9+ 175+ applicants--they can't afford to, given their size.

I'm not the expert on harvard by any means...and LSN isn't representative. But, at least some 17s+s got waitlisted/rejected with a 3.9...including a 180. I said a 176...which is their 75th and a decent shot. The evidence clearly indicates a 175 isn't a gurantee...hence "decent shot".

The LSAT score that will give you the best chance is the best LSAT score you can get.

i would say this recent cycle has been a bit tougher, but thats still a bit pessimistic imo

HLS seems to be hitting hard on 2 types of applicants this yr (who get WL/rej w/ these sort of stats) -- high LSAT like 180 but sub 3.8 GPA and LSAT retakers

a 3.9+ GPA and 175+ LSAT (1 try) is very good for HLS, assuming he applies early and presents a decent overall package

so id say better than decent but rather 'very good' for HLS if OP can get 175+ on his first try

17/19 is pretty good odds. I'd go with 175 as safe.
