Texas with a 3.45/171

I'm a long time lurker on here so let's see how this goes...
I'm going to be applying the next cycle with a 3.45/171.
I know my GPA is less than average but I have a pretty good upward grade trend. Really convincing.
I'm white/male, so non URM
I have work experience during my UG (which is a top 50 school) and I did a summer internship for a healthcare firm in Austin
Other than that, I was a MusicEd major (which is a lot harder than you think) so I might be variety?
I hear UT is a real GPA geared school so I'm a little worried.
And if anyone knows my chances for any T20 schools I would really appreciate that too!

Just nitpicking, but you meant "lurker", not "troller". Also, are you a TX resident? Your residency can really affect your shot at UT.

Yeah, it can. LSP has you at a strong consider based on your #s but I'm not sure how admissions is going to look at your major (Sorry). If I was a betting man, as a TX resident applying early action I would say you're in.
As a disclaimer though, I'm not that familiar with any particular quirks UT admissions might have. There are some UT experts on this board though who I'm sure are going to chime in eventually.

It seems like UT was look for a 3.4 and higher this year. I'd say you have a very realistic chance if you apply early.

Being a resident of Texas while applying to UT is huge, if you weren't i would say you were out with not even a waitlist, being a resident your in, maybe with $.

In with money at all three with possible full ride at bama and UGA.

The only people who currently get full-rides to UGA Law are GA residents. From what I can tell, the highest a non-resident can get is in-state + 5k.

Yeah I think Texas is my number one because I live here and would be alot closer to family, and I think the DFW/Austin/Houston markets are good places to be.
A lot of my friends tell me to ED at UVA but I'm kind of skeptical about that and I like Texas just a little too much...

Like everyone else has said, if you apply early I'd bet you're in. Maybe even some $ with that LSAT; they like anything over 170.
ND- In (maybe $)
Georgia- In (In-state tuition)
Alabama- Why bother?

It's done for a reason. UGA is the state's flagship public law school. Also, the people getting Georgia Law Scholar awards (full-rides) have fantastic numbers. We're talking 3.8+/170+. They're electing to go to UGA over some VERY prestigious schools because they are Georgians through-and-through.
Even for non-residents though, UGA can be a great value. My tuition is going to be ~$13k because of the in-state tuition award. I didn't mean to derail the thread and I think UT is your best fit and bet, but I just wanted to clarify.

I guess I could argue the same principle about Texas too...even if we have UH and SMU.
