Does my friend have a shot? (WL at Columbia and NYU)

This might be impossible to say without knowing stats (and I don't know them), but my friend was waitlisted at Columbia and NYU. At this point, does she have a shot at getting in?

Columbia waitlists a lot of people and takes very few. NYU waitlists relatively fewer, but sometimes takes a lot and sometimes doesn't.
Go to Lawschoolnumbers.com and do a search of applications for the according school, highlighting all of the waitlist options (WL, accepted..WL, rejected, WL withdrew, etc.) to get an idea.
They took no one from LSN last year (although there were reports that they took some ppl towards the end of the summer), and took 23/78-79 of those who accepted their waitlist spot the year before. Additionally, the number that schools take off a waitlist often swing back and forth as schools get more and less aggressive with their projections of how many accepted students will matriculate. Since so few were accepted last year (after accepting a whopping 30% the year before) that is a good indication for this year. This is what I've been able to muster about the situation. HTH
