Hey, I got a 179 on the LSAT, but I have a GPA of 3.25 from a top 70 university. I want to go to Columbia, what's my chances? What's my chances for the top 10 law schools?
Oh, and I'm Chinese, so minority. And is it possible I can get financial aid? If it helps at all, I can do a one year master's program in environmental science, and get a 3.8+ GPA.

Thanks!

Not good. Worth a shot but don't get your hopes up.

As was noted in a thread I started, CLS (and NYU) seem to have lower thresholds of about a 3.5. (With that said, CLS' 25th percentile was 3.51, so a quarter of their class had a lower GPA than that.) Nevertheless, it doesn't bode well.

Further, while being a minority might make for an interesting soft, unfortunately for you, you're not an underrepresented minority. Only URMs (black, Native American, and some Hispanics) get URM consideration.
