They are okay soft factors. But you'll pretty much have the same results as everyone else who was a 3.85 gpa with a 170.

I'd apply to all of the top 20 or so law schools and see what sticks. You'll probably get scholarships to some of the lower T14s, and you've got a good shot at CCN, and a smaller shot at YHS.

Thanks for your reply, Desert Fox! So you don't think the MA will do much to add to my profile?
Not much. If you find a way to tie it into your personal statement it might help a bit more. Law school admissions are mostly a numbers game.

Soft factors make you competitive vis-a-vis people with similar numbers to you. So, your MA + WE will make you more competitive than other people with a ~170/3.85. The exception to that general rule is Northwestern, which places a huge amount of emphasis on work experience. With that said, I don't think that NU is necessarily a good choice for the law that you want to practice.

If the job you want doesn't require you to have a JD or pass the bar, I don't see the wisdom in going to law school.

Well is the ability to do better research and give better advice worth $200k?

Actually, is anything besides a house worth $200k? No. So no one should go to law school without a substantial scholarship.
