Re: 174/3.8
Dude, telling people you're "worried" about a 3.8 is just a douche move. Seriously.

Re: 174/3.8
It's not. The 174 helps a ton, but you aren't an auto-admit to HYS, although CLS is more of a safe bet for you. You should get at least one of HS (though not auto-admit level), and Y is a crap-shoot.Cilent21 wrote:lol Jeeeeeze. I like the TLS hostility a lot more when it's not directed towards me.
Sorry, but I thought this was TOP-LAW-SCHOOLS.com -- if a 3.8 is that great to you posters, then I have overestimated this site..
Guess you guys won't be applying to these schools, because if you were, you'd understand that a 3.8 is not an auto-admit at H or S and maybe not even CLS

Re: 174/3.8
First of all, no one is an auto-admit at S. Either they like you or they don't, and your GPA is above the 25th. Second, go to Lawschoolpredictor.com if you want numerically based projections on your chances. I know you're looking for reassurance, but no matter what you should be applying to HSCCN and from there it is just a crap shoot. Since the DUI happened well before your matriculation at LS it should not be a major problem as long as you handle it appropriately.
To Recap: You have at least a fighting chance at all of HSCCN. Congratulations.

1. Yes you are on the right website.Cilent21 wrote: Sorry, but I thought this was TOP-LAW-SCHOOLS.com -- if a 3.8 is that great to you posters, then I have overestimated this site..

2. Nothing is an "auto-admit" to HYS, even 4.0/180. But you're numbers do give you a good shot at HYS and CLS. I (and many others who have replied) have the feeling you knew this before you posted, thats why you received the hostile responses. A lot of people with numbers like yours apply to these schools, but they don't create stupid threads like this.
3. You have only given us numbers and the fact that you got a DUI when you were 17. There are many other websites (law school numbers, law school predictor) that can give you better information based solely on the information you gave us. If you would like to explain what your "decent softs" are, maybe we could tell you how to highlight them so they overshadow your DUI.

I've seen a lot worse threads. But I do understand what you're saying: with just numbers alone given, LSP would probably be better for me.goldschlager wrote:Cilent21 wrote:

OH MY GOD YOUR GPA IS HIGHER THAN MINE STOP COMPLAINING OMG OMG YOU MUST BE FLAME
seriously people throw the flame flag out too quickly. if you have nothing useful to contribute to a thread, consider just not posting.
anyway, a 3.7x is below median at several of the op's schools, while his lsat should be above median everywhere. so yeah, you'll be on the bubble at hys, but should be in great shape for everywhere else.
good luck.

Calm down Drunky McDrunker pants. I think if you write a decent p.s. and avoid almost killing any other people with you car, you'll get into at least one of those schools.Cilent21 wrote:lol Jeeeeeze. I like the TLS hostility a lot more when it's not directed towards me.

Out of curiosity, was your BAC higher than you GPA?

I agree, but the guy's attitude is off putting. I think he knows his chances are decent at least, but he just wanted a place to brag. I based this on the fact that he "read like everything on here."KibblesAndVick wrote:Well that wasn't very nice.jdhonest wrote:Out of curiosity, was your BAC higher than you GPA?

Re: 174/3.8
As an FYI:
If you're DUI happened when you're 17, you were a minor and you should have had your record sealed/expunged. Additionally, since you were under 18 you weren't "convicted", you were "adjudicated". Just something to keep in mind when you apply.
I could be totally off-base though since I didn't have any offenses to make note of. Someone feel free to correct me please.

Re: 174/3.8
People use the word flame way too much.
Anyway, you should, barring unspeakable acts that I don't know of, make it into Columbia and NYU. Y and S love softs, and they are basically crapshoots for everyone -- that being said, you have the numbers to get into both. Harvard is a little more interesting...you have a pretty good shot, but Harvard has been strange this year. Write strong essays, get great LORs, and you will be very pleased with where you'll end up.

Yeah, cause a 175 and a 3.81 from a top 5 with "Two years work experience at a non-profit. Significant engagement with global foundations and direct service organizations" is so the same as what I posted..daesonesb wrote:This is your answer.hopin10 wrote:http://www.lawschoolnumbers.com/hopin10

I didn't mean it to sound cocky or anything. And I do know my chances are decent, but I just wanted to see what other people would say
I do thank everyone for the sincere posts above though..

Re: 174/3.8
OP, just go to lawschoolpredictor.com and figure it out. I will say that Stanford traditionally doesn't have a large-sized entering class so you're battling for less spots than would be available to you than, say, Harvard (go ahead, look it up). No, you're not an auto-admit with a 3.8, but even with a 3.9 you're not a 100% admit. Was your major in the physical sciences or humanities? What were your softs? Did you double major or minor in anything? Who is writing your LoRs? Anything in your PS that makes you unique (travel, fluency & application in a foreign language, WE, etc.)? Do you know any Stanford alum?
At the very least you'll get into Columbia or NYU, so you won't have much to worry about. Me, I'm just hoping to get into Northwestern. lol

if you are smart enough to get those numbers, use your brain and do your own basic research
if you are insecure and need assurance from internet posters, go get some self esteem
