Iknow no normal mortal could get in w. those numbers but that's a lot of soft factors
And OK, I made up 170, as that's my PT average. But 3.47 is my LSAC GPA. I guess my real question is, what LSAT do I need to have a real chance.

I think you're in. In-state with those numbers alone makes you a good candidate, add in ED and military experience and I think you have a really solid shot. Good luck.

In-state ED with military experience? You are in a VERY strong position for acceptance.

This cycle 50/50
In the fall, probably higher than 90 percent. Every single person who applied before Christmas with a 3.0 and 170 or higher got in.

I got in (ED) pretty recently (applied mid-Jan). 3.36/170 OOS. You should be fine. Best of luck!

Really? Why is my 3.46/175+ ass sitting on the wait list?
Edit: I applied in late November.

If you didn't ED, then that explains it. If you did ED, then I have no idea.

I applied RD 170, 3.6ish, military experience and I ended up on the WL. However, I didn't apply till the beginning of January, so that could be a big part of it. I think ED is the way to go for you. RD didn't seem to do too well this cycle.

As long as you get the 170 you will have a very nice shot for next cycle. Sounds like you havent taken an official administration yet.

You can't completely rule out UVA going for a 171 median next year. For OP a 171+ score and a reasonably early ED app would be a near lock. A 170 would likely get admittance.

OP, I'm not a UVA student, but I'm privy to enough UVA stories to be reasonably sure that you will get in if you get that 170, ED, and apply early. How early? The first day applications go up. I'm not kidding. If I had my own cycle to do over again, no way would I have waited for November, thinking I had still "beat the Thanksgiving rush."
Do this, be sincere in your desire to attend, and reap your rewards. No one has a guarantee, but I have a feeling your odds are good. I'm just making a mental list of everyone at UVA who has told me their numbers, how much money they got, and when they applied (if known.)

True, there appears to at least be a chance that a 171 median is possible for next year.

How big of a difference does the in-state part make? I know it's a public university so it must count for something even if not the way it does at Carolina.

In-state helps, but not to the extent of UNC. I think UNC has to take like 80% of their matriculating class from NC. UVA has to have 40% VA residents and has plenty of in state applicants that are qualified. Basically, it doesn't seem so much that there is a separate admissions standard for instate vs. oos like there is at UNC, but that if you do meet the thresholds as a VA resident, you are a lock as opposed to having a good shot.

+1
That, and you will get a decision more quickly. I got my decision in like a week and a half. I probably would have been wait listed had I been a non resident.
