Top Law Schools

So I graduated with a public relations bachelor's degree and a legal studies minor in two and a half years. I have two internships under my belt (one currently with Yale University). My final GPA ended up being a 3.48. The first time I took my LSAT I got a 142 and second time I took it I got a 171. What do you think my chances are of getting accepted into:

Berkeley
U. of Chicago
U. of Michigan- Ann Arbor
Northwestern University

did you check the box on LSP for "prestigious internship"? That would probably be the most accurate thing to do.

First, I hate to break it to you, but the schools aren't going to care about graduating in 2.5 years. Your GPA is your GPA no matter the amount time it takes to graduate. Based on the GPA I would say you are really big long shot at Berkeley and Chicago. Northwestern is friendly to low GPA students that have good work experience (your internships could help there). You might stand an OK shot at Michigan. Seriously though...142 to 171? You are gonna need a really good LSAT addendum to explain that.

I think he is right that the schools won't care about the amount of time it took you, though I am impressed. Have you worked some since graduating? That would really impress Northwestern, from what I hear. Since you are a consider at most of those places on LSP I would think you softs really will help, but the 142 is a scary thing to have to show.

Yes I am currently working at Yale so by the time I go to law school (2011) I will have been working for 2+ years. The morning of my first LSAT (142) I was having awful pains and couldn't concentrate. (After my LSAT I went to the emergency room and ended up having surgery a few hours later.) I'm not sure how I can make that sound pleasant in an addendum but I will sure have to try. It was stupid not to just cancel my score when I clearly should have

I didn't finish college in the hopes that it would be a big factor for law school. I actually really enjoyed my major and wanted to take extra classes. Was wondering if it would be some sort of "sort factor" though. Guess not!!

Berkeley - OUT
UChicago - OUT
Michigan - IN
Northwestern - IN

I would definitely apply to Cornell, Georgetown, UCLA and Duke.

Out at Berkeley, Chicago, and Michigan
Possibly in at Northwestern if they like your W/E

I would say out at berkley, Chicago but in at Michigan with a good why Mich and possibly in without it.

Btw, huge props from going from 142-171. What happened?
