I would say your in at 8-9/12 . Great softs, but I'm not sure the letter form an Olympian will help, unless you have been out of school for a while.

OP I think you were wise to add those additional schools to the ones you applied to above. You have some great softs, but your low GPA, the fact that you applied so late, and the large volume of applicants this cycle might hurt your chances at many of the schools listed in your Original Post. Notwithstanding, I still think you have a decent chance some of those schools including Cornell, Duke, and Michigan.

You're applying pretty late. You may have a shot at UVA this cycle if you switch to ED since they're still taking ED applications, but otherwise you're probably out at most of the top schools this late in the game.

If you can't get into any top schools this semester you're probably going to be better off waiting and reapplying. In September/October you should ED to a school like NYU/Columbia, and then if they reject you, ED to UVA. That would increase your chances of getting into the best school possible.

Is the consensus that UVA plans to keep their extended ED deadline for next year, in case someone wants a 2nd shot at an ED?

Hey guys some more questions:

I understand that I have basically no shot at NYU and Columbia but I would like to go for a desperate attempt anyway, so I am wondering if I should go visit their campuses (which would be no problem at all) and write them letters of continued interest to update them on my recent performances. (Got recommended for the national political science honors society and got a 3.8 in last semester but the updated transcript is already sent to them) And if I was to write the letter of continued interest what exactly should I put on it? I don't want ti to have a negative effect on me. Thank you guys SO much for all the input.

hey quick question: just realized that I could get a dean's recommendation, would sending that in help at all?

Also, I really want to do something to increase my chances so I am wondering if visiting NYU or columbia and going to their admission's office and following up would help at all??

It couldn't hurt to visit, and they'll most likely make a note of that in your file, but TBH they'll probably take less than a minute to reject your apps because you're below both medians (and significantly so for GPA).

Yea I would be shocked if you cracked T15 this cycle, applying this late. I have pretty similar numbers, better softs, applied in Sept/Oct, and only got in to 2 T14 schools. Other than that, it's waitlist city.

You can try a re-take, but with GPAs like ours it won't help you get into NYU or Columbia unless you're above their 75%ile, which means shooting for a 174+. Re-applying next cycle will probably be your best bet.

William and Mary didn't make me feel all that valuable and I got in! Probably will withdraw, so I hope you get my spot if thats where you want to go!

If you really want to go to NYU or Columbia, retake the LSAT's in June, then have your apps sent in September and ED to NYU. You can add an extra year of work experience while you wait an extra year.
