how important is work experience to this all? Being employed for 35 or so hours a week since sophomore year I feel like it should be important, but I haven't heard anything confirming that at all

The admissions committee might take it into account if the person has a low GPA, I'd assume. I guess they figure that work might contribute to a lower GPA so they might be a little more flexible if someone worked a lot during college.

2.9 GPA, top-10 undergrad school, BS Mechanical Engineering
170 LSAT
6 years post-grad work experience in mech engineering design consulting field, emphasis on "Green" & "Sustainable" building construction & design

What are my odds at these DC area schools:
1) Georgetown (part-time)
2) GW (full or part time)
3) George Mason (full time)
4) American (full time)
5) Catholic (full time)

GULC PT - WL/in
GW - in
Mason - in
American - in or yield protect
Catholic - you're too good for Catholic.

Really? I'm kind of nervous that my GPA will ding me at GULC/GW... Do you think they'll cut me some slack based on the work experience?

by ari20dal7
Your GPA may well ding you at those places, but I think it's unlikely. Your work experience helps, but a 170 is awfully good for GULC PT. GW has a reputation for liking splitters, so that helps you out. As with all splitters, I'd advise casting a wide net and looking to more schools than the usual applicant. GW will probably also like your hard science background if you're interested in IP. The hard science major is another thing mitigating your GPA.

Hi guys,

I'm wondering how the experts would handicap my chances at:

Chicago
Michigan
Northwestern
Illinois
Washington and Lee
Notre Dame
William and Mary
Wisconsin
Indiana

I have a 3.91 LSAC GPA from a small liberal arts college in the midwest with a double major in Business Economics and Political Science and will be graduating in only three years. LSAT score is a 165. Strong letters of recommendation, good soft factors (Student Body President, president of multiple clubs, work about 20 hours per week).

What are my chances at the above schools, and are there any other schools I should be looking at?

Thanks!

Thomas

Greygoose is right on target, but I don't think you'll get into NW even with significant work experience: they do like their LSATs......

Your list is a good one and I think you'll see a lot of good acceptances.

I was looking for one more school to apply to that would be a reach to super reach.

I landed on Iowa.

163/2.17
Full Time employment (in sales, if that's relevant) since end of freshman year
Several EC's...nothing special
Non-URM
3 good but not great LOR's
A good (biased) PS, probably just decent
Addendum for GPA (obviously)

75% LSAT, WAAAAY below 25% GPA...

So what does anyone think, is it worth an app fee on Iowa? Or am I completely off my rocker/batshit crazy/etc?

Can we make a rule that anyone who makes a new thread in this forum is required to put their numbers in the thread title? Maybe make a sticky indicating as much?

Advice?

LSAT 150,
BSME 4.0GPA
MSME 3.5GPA,
4years exp
Program Type: Parttime-IPatent Law

I would appreciate if anyone can point me to the (cheapest) best parttime school/s that I can get into based on the above criteria. While, retaking might be an option for most of you, I don't think I can consider that option.

Thank you

What are my odds at the following schools with a 163/3.3 and good SFs (speaks multiple languages, volunteered in 3rd world countries, worked at a top law firm and as a freelance writer in multiple countries, awards, ect.):

American
Hastings
UCLA
USC
Cardozo
Emory
George Mason
Illinois - UC
Maryland
Minnesota
UNC
Northwestern
Ohio St.
Texas
Vanderbilt
Wake Forest
Villanova
Wash. and Lee
Washington University
University of Washington
Wisconson

Northwestern
Chicago
Loyola (Chicago)
Chicago-kent
U of Illinois
Wash U(STL)
Saint Louis University
University of Missouri
Loyola-Chi and Mizzou are the only two that MIGHT take a chance. Being Native American is nice...it doesn't overcome a 149. Retake the LSAT, score 155 or higher and you are decent to all but NU, Chicago, WashU, and maybe Illinois.

I've sent out basically all of my applications now and my numbers are as follows, (159,3.22) at a essential public Ivy

I'm the president of my fraternity and have tons of community service and I double majored. Help me out as I am currently waiting for my schools to decide my fate,

Reach

Fordham

Target

Rutgers Newark
Rutgers Camden
Seton Hall
St. John's
Penn State
Catholic

Safety

New York Law
Hofstra
Quinnipiac

I know it's hard to gauge my chances based on these limited numbers and such, but feel free to comment and make me feel like crap or whatever,

by the way I have 0% of a chance to get into Fordham, but it's worth a try.

Thanks

162 LSAT 3.3 UGPA

What are my odds at:

University of Oklahoma
Baylor
Southern Methodist
William and Mary (fee waiver)
Vanderbilt

2 BA's, 3.48, 172- any thoughts?

Columbia Undergrad
2 BA's- cumulative GPA of 3.48 (cumulative major gpa of 3.68 )

LSAT= 172

According to that law school calc I'm sorta on the edge of in/out at most T10. Is that a reach?

Hoping for NYU, Gtown
Also applied to Penn, Virginia, Chicago, Columbia, HYS (for the fun of it?), Fordham, GW
