Transfer Chances

Hi there,
I am curious what range of schools I should be looking at to possibly transfer to. I am at a 3rd tier program right now, just got a 3.89 for my first semester in a C+ curve system (still waiting on my official class rank). Just wondering from people who have had experience with transfering, any shot at getting into tier 1? Any chance on getting into top 15? Thanks for your help.

Lower Tier 1 is possible, I doubt t14 though, but maybe...

There is a transfer thread floating around I will try and find/link it.

Here it is:

Here is a section from there that would help....
To transfer into the T14 you need:
-top 10-15% at T1, top 5-10% for CCN
-top 5-10% at a T2, top 5% for CCN
-top 1-2% at a T3/T4
-Other notes: Depending on how far up you want to transfer, you may even succeed if you are ranked top 20-30%. For example, if you are transferring up like 10-15 spots, top 20-30% maybe enough (like a lateral transfer). Also, people in the T3/T4 generally only have a shot at transfer friendly schools in the T14.

To transfer into the T1 you need:
-top 10-20% at a T2
-top 5-10% at T3
-top 5% at T4
-Other notes: Depending on just exactly where you are and how far up you want to transfer, you can again make the jump by being in the top 20-30%.

Depends on your rank... If you're top 5% you have a chance at Georgetown, I believe. Go to the transfer applications group on Yahoo, it has a good amount of information.

Just curious, if you rank high enough to transfer to CCN, but also threw a transfer app to T15-20 range school, are merit aid scholarship offers common, rare, or existent at all?

The only school that will likely offer your merit aid is your own. Transfers don't typically (ever?) get aid.

xero got 1/2 tuition at HYS... but then again he had a 4.2 or some thing GPA from UCLA Law and was ranked #1

I think that was need based aid; HYS don't typically give out merit based aid to anyone...
