Hi Guys,

So with a 3.6 GPA at a fairly unknown state school, and an LSAT score of 173, what are my chances of getting into any of the t14 schools?

I'm majoring in Business Marketing with a minor in Asian American Studies. My softs are as follows: worked and went to school full-time throughout undergrad years to help family; part of a student-faculty research team; runs a small tutoring business. Great rec letters, great personal statements (although I might tweak it a little from now until the time I apply). Really no excuse for the low GPA, except that I procrastinated on studying and worked a lot.

I'm planning to apply next year (Fall 2011) because I've been offered a decent paying job that has agreed to pay for some of my law school tuition.

Please help me out. Thanks so much!

Thanks! Congratulations on your acceptances. May I ask which ones?

I have similar numbers. Just based on my own expectations, you might be a WL at Columbia, due to your GPA being a little low.

But I'm guessing you're in at NYU and Chicago.

Even though I'm guessing this was a joke, here's the proof that that's not true. A graph from LSN. Not one reject in the 173 column at Georgetown this cycle, even down to a 3.01...

You've got a great shot at a lot of T14 (and T10, for that matter) schools, but I advise your turn your apps in ASAP. Some schools -- especially Berkeley -- will be much harder to get into at this point in the cycle than they would have been in the fall.
