3.86/161/URM/decent softs - Care to assess?

I just saw my score December, and to say the least, I'm not happy. However, it appears it's too late to retake, so I guess I'll see where this takes me. I'm very debt adverse, so in addition to assessing my chances, feel free to include potential scholarship offers. I'm an Oklahoma resident, but I attend college in Texas. Here's the list:

Texas
Baylor
SMU
Pepperdine
George Washington
Oklahoma
Georgetown (just for kicks)

We are spot on number twins (I'm not URM so you do have a nice boost). I did quite a bit of research on my chances, sooo... here's what I predict for you:

Texas: Not sure (sorry)
Baylor: IN
SMU: IN
Pepperdine: IN
George Washington: W/L- IN
Oklahoma- IN
Georgetown (just for kicks): W/L- ?

Also, I eventually decided to only apply in California so I'm not keen on scholarships outside of Cali; however, Pepperdine should give you a decent sholarship and you could probably get a full tuition scholly from Chapman like I did. I'm still early in my cycle so I'm awaiting more news.

it really depends what kind of URM you are to be honest. you have a shot at some very good schools. in my opinion you need to aim higher.

i have similar numbers (better in LSAT and GPA) and ive gotten into to Boalt, Texas, Cornell, and Vandy as far as my highest 4 acceptances. i've also heard back from 10 schools in total so schools are definitely seeking out URMs early.

good luck im sure you will do great this cycle!

Well, I'm Mexican American if that really does make difference. I'm also a first generation college and high school student. What schools would you suggest if I was to "aim higher?"

honestly, from #20 (Emory) on down I think youre a good enough bet to really blanket all of the schools that youre interested in. apply early as in like.. immediately. dont settle for T2 schools.

Catharsis, thanks a lot for your input! That’s really encouraging. I’ll try to have some applications out by this week. Also, good luck to everyone else.

absolutely. the law school app process is extremely humbling but you really have to take a plunge and go for schools you would have not otherwise applied to. i know it's expensive without fee waivers but try and apply to as many as possible in that range. never EVER limit yourself.

happy new year and good luck!

Do you realize that from Columbia on down in the T14 you have a decent to above average chance of being admitted?

No, I didn't. Based on the caculators, I didn't think I had a decent. What makes you think this?

T20's are definite possibility. Waitlists aren't the worst thing in the world, though, and a lot of them in store if you aim high.
