It wasn't that bad, I just am farther along in the cycle than the "average person." I got my LORs from Jan-May, took my LSAT in June, selected my schools in July, wrote my personal statement at the end of July, etc. I have a really hard semester this Fall and knew if I wanted to give my best to my apps, then it would have to be when I had the time in the summer. All of that is to say most of the things the open house addressed were questions about transcripts, personal statement, etc. in the admissions process. I was wanting to hear more of a pitch why I should attend UT instead of a school up north. But I guess that is what the ASD is for...Stephanie13 wrote:Really? Well thats too bad.
I did see her in the Q&A session though. As bad as I felt for her, it was funny to watch the faces of the admissions panel as they tried to understand her.bonnieblue wrote:were you in the mock class with the deaf gunner hahah it was an interesting experience
I don't know. I think any school needs to persuade people, even if you are Yale or Harvard. The fact is that people always have a choice where they go and UT really wants to break into the T-14.Stephanie13 wrote:Yea, I think I am in the same boat as you. When I went there to visit and I talked to an admissions counselor they didn't try and persuade me but I suppose as rank 15 school they probably don't need to do a lot of persuading for most people. Anyway I know I should know this but what exactly does ASD stand for and what is it?
Oh thanks! That does help.UTaylor526 wrote:I don't know. I think any school needs to persuade people, even if you are Yale or Harvard. ASD = Admitted Students Day
What it is? I can't answer 100% as I haven't been to one yet but my understanding is that it is essentially a recruitment effort to get students who are deciding between schools. They bring you in (some pay for the trip, others don't) and just show you how great life is at their school. Everyone invited has not only applied, but has been admitted and many of them are trying to decide between schools.
Hope that helped. As I said, I am not the best source for an answer.
I know this is extremely late, but I was at this Open House. Definitely interesting!UTaylor526 wrote:It wasn't that bad, I just am farther along in the cycle than the "average person."
