Are ASWs fun times?? Worth missing class?

I am trying to decide whether to visit NYU. The pro is that they'll cover the cost, but I will have to miss class and fly across the country.
Have y'all found going to the ASWs of schools you are not very seriously considering (NYU is probably #6 on my list) to be enjoyable? I've never been to one, are they something you would go to for fun/networking?

I had a blast at ASWs and went to as many as I could. Got to meet people, eat and (usually) drink for free, and hang out in a different part of the country.

Even though you're not going to attend NYU, why wouldn't you take the opportunity for a FREE vacation to NYC?

i doubt it...maybe some partial reimbursement, but not completely free. I could be wrong though

Thanks for the input guys!
They are providing a $300 travel stipend which is more than my plane ticket. I'll be staying with a friend and will have most, if not all, meals provided. I may incur a few minor unanticpated costs that aren't factoring into my decision.

how did you get the stipend? did you qualify for one of the full scholarships or what?

Yes I received the stipend because I am a finalist for one of the full scholarships. I haven't been selected yet though.

I just went to an event at NYU that admitted students were invited to and it was actually incredibly fun. I'd say if it's mostly free and you're a finalist for one of the big scholarships it's absolutely worth visiting. I'm sure you're already in some excellent law schools so who care about missing a bit of class at this point.
