Top Law Schools

I haven't had a chance to visit a lot of the schools that I'm applying to, and I know that some (Stanford, for example) will subsidize admitted student travel. Does anyone know of any other schools that will pay for your visit (excluding, maybe, cases where they only pay for scholarship finalists)?

Duke gave me $250, which they offered to every admit, afaik

Columbia gave me $90 when I requested it and gave provided accommodations with a student so I didn't have to pay for hotel

UVa didn't give me cash but also gave me accommodations

I believe my friend got money from NYU, but I didn't request any, so I don't know firsthand

Michigan offered to let me stay with a student, but I didn't end up visiting at all

Boalt pays for your airfare. I believe the limits are $250 for in-state and $400 for out-of-state. They will also put you up with a student.

This is fantastic! I had no idea that schools did this. I had forgone the possibility of visiting for obvious reasons (distance, expense...) but if I can get help financing...how does this work exactly? Also, do schools offer this to all admitted students? Or only some? Thanks in advance

Does this apply only to admitted student events? If I decide to just visit their on my own, will they offer anything? I'm going to try to visit some Duke and GTown in the coming weeks since I'm already in, but they won't have admitted student events until next semester.

This generally applies for admitted students going specifically to the admitted students weekend. I know that Duke would reimburse you only if you fly within a very confined period (i.e. they don't want you vacationing there/looking at other schools in the area) for that particular weekend. If you went any other weekend, no dice.

Tulane gives up to $300 for airfare or mileage if you drive. They don't pay for a hotel, though, but i think you can stay with a student if you want.

Cornell reimburses you a couple hundred if you go on admitted students day. I don't remember exactly how much but I'm sure you can find it on their website.

Pacific McGeorge paid my plane flight and rental car fees to visit during one of their Legal Scholar Days (you are generally top 1/3 of their admit pool to get an invite, I think). None of the other schools I got into offered to help pay for any of my flight expenses, unfortunately. Top-ranked schools might be different, though.

Anyone know anything about Texas? I've heard Austin is great and I would love to visit for a weekend if they are willing to help me foot the bill.

What about USC or UCLA?

That is awesome to hear from Harvard. Since they wouldn't waive my fee, I didn't think they would fly me up either. Good to know.

Once you get the first call, you're about 90% to get the second. I think you should feel pretty good about things.

WUSTL offers up to $200 to admitted students who live more than 100 mi. from St. Louis. Unfortunately, I live only five minutes away... Maybe I could talk them into filling up my gas tank for me.

I got an email today stating that they cover up to $250 in travel expenses if you come for their ASW. Count me in.

Penn will also cover some expenses: "within 150 miles of Penn Law - up to $100; 150 miles or more - up to $250. If you are unable to secure a plane ticket for under $250 - Penn will pay 50% of the cost of the ticket above $250." This is from an email I received from them.
