Shirt and tie/ dress pants/shoes acceptable for an open house?

I don't want to be overdressed or underdressed.

I recently went on an accepted student day visit

The admissions person told us it was business casual

Wide variety of people--Least dressed guy wore a hoodie and jeans, most dressed wore a shirt and tie--any everything in between
So what you want to wear is fine

Slacks and a nice shirt should be fine. Really, you could wear jeans if you wanted.
