Despite my strong interest in GW, I will not be attending.

I'm going, and I'm excited for a break from the rain here in the Bay Area.

Hate to break it to you, but we're looking at thunderstorms Friday :(

Then again it's just Monday, and if enough of us do a weather dance it might not happen.

I was offered a spot in the Aston, but I think I will opt to use the stipend to rent an apartment off-campus.

I also took a tour a couple of weeks ago, and I was really impressed. I'm not totally positive I'll be there in fall, but it's looking quite likely.

And yes, I would be in the Aston. :D

I was there. I really, really liked it. I was already committed to GW but this definitely solidified everything. Brief thoughts (PM if you need more info):

Faculty: There were a ton of faculty present, from deans to professors to staffers from the career office and outside placement programs (more about that later). They were all extremely friendly and helpful, and seemed genuinely in love with the school. One prof. I sat with at the catered lunch told me he had offers to teach at Cornell and Georgetown and turned both down for GW. I was very impressed with the faculty's willingness to answer questions honestly (especially hard questions about job prospects, etc).

Career Office: The outside placement office was phenomenal. They talked about all the opportunities they help students to get during the school year, like externships for credit (and with chance of $$ if it's PI) and internships with judges. GW seems extremely well-connected in the area and extending to New York, VA, Atlanta, and Philadelphia. They also do regional firm interviews (in Chicago for example) and the office really seems to pull its weight to help students get jobs.

Facilities: GW is gorgeous. Everything is brand new, with a sunny little grass quad in the middle, a great little cafe, the most high-tech courtroom in DC for moot court, etc. You couldn't ask for anything better. The only thing was that I didn't get to see the library, but heard it's nice. There is also a LOT of study space sprinkled around the school, ranging in sound level from very noisy to dead quiet.

Other students: I was really pleasantly impressed by the other people. Everyone seemed bright, friendly, interesting, and shockingly well-rounded. The accomplishments people spoke of were truly humbling. One negative was that a few people came off as very cocky/jerky-types, especially during the class period. But I guess that's true everywhere.

Other: The student guides were really cool, and very down to earth. GW definitely pulled out all the stops--even having the a cappella group sing for us (the Promissory Notes, ha).

Feel free to PM with any specific questions.

Thanks, umichgrad! I don't really have any more specific questions, but I sure do appreciate you taking the time to write that very thoughtful summary.
