Saving money on multi-city plane tickets

So I'm visiting schools in April, and I've never had to buy so many different plane tickets to different cities before...I was wondering if there's a way to save money somehow through a package deal or something, because it's getting expensive. Is it cheaper to get all tickets through one airline if possible or just use a aggregate search engine to get the best deals for each leg of the trip from different airlines?

Are you visiting multiple schools and cities in the same trip?
Tried Kayak.com?

Yeah, I'm traveling to 3 different cities and used Yapta to track prices and got what I think is a good deal on a cross-country flight. I'm still waiting to buy the 3 other legs so I'm wondering if there's a better way. I think Kayak and Yapta use the same search engine interface?

are you going to different places on one trip? i.e. A to B to C to A? try sidestep.com. I always had better luck finding the cheapest fares.

RC fail? Yeah I thought it would be clear by now that I'm going to visit different cities in one trip.
