For those of you who have already gotten the admitted students info, how long did it take between acceptance e-mail -----> snail mail packet?

Legacy, have you received your login info yet? If so, what sort of combination is it, e.g. birthday/email, etc.?
I know I just found out on Thursday...but I cannot wait another day for all the info.

Congrats on your acceptance!!!
Yeah, I actually got the call back on 12/2 and received my login information on 12/21. They make you create a username and you create your own password. DO NOT forget your password. I tried to set it up on my phone, and I screwed it up, eventually forcing me to bother with sending Berkeley a fax with a copy of my DL and a bunch of other stuff. So make sure your write it down!
Also, I haven't really received a packet (like from other schools) from Berkeley. Other than a fold out pamphlet and the acceptance letter, Berkeley hasn't really come through with anything substantially covering the law school. I hope they do soon, though. Does anyone know if we are going to get anything else anytime soon?

Can't wait for this!!
I think a packet came in the mail ~2 weeks after the acceptance with the actual acceptance letter and viewbook, but I can't quite remember.

Hey, guys!
Congrats on the acceptances! You are going to love ASW - it's a great time to meet your future classmates and professors. I am still friends with people that I met at ASW. AND - you guys will have the beginnings of an actual building on Bancroft, as opposed to the giant dirt pit that we had last year.
I am a 1L, so if anyone has any questions about life at Boalt, feel free to PM me. I made the transition from NY/NJ to CA, so if you're in a similar position and want some feedback on that specifically, don't hesitate to ask.
Again, congrats to everyone - hopefully ASW will convince you what an amazing place Boalt is (as if you needed any convincing).

I am glad that someone started this thread.
Has anyone found a place to stay yet? I am thinking about Berkeley YMCA. Looks like it's right off BART, but I don't know the best way from YMCA to the law school, walk/bus?

Are most people planning on renting a car or anything like that . . . I imagine parking on campus isn't too terrible, probably like 10 bucks or something?

You can park in the downtown lot for $15 (

From the Berkeley website... Parking could be hard to find.
Parking Tips for Visitors
Make parking arrangements in advance If your campus visit has been pre-arranged by a department or for a clinic appointment, ask a representative to arrange your parking and provide you with a permit, or to direct you to on- or off-campus public parking. Go to Invited Guest Permits for more information.
Schedule visits for early morning or late afternoon During peak parking hours (9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Mon – Fri), University parking areas are often filled to capacity.
Read signs carefully before parking your vehicle Regulated parking hours, permit requirements, fees and special parking instructions are posted at all main campus entrances and in off-campus lots. Violation of University parking regulations may result in a citation and/or towing of the vehicle.
If you are unable to find a parking space Return to the East or West Gate and request assistance. The gate attendant will direct you to a public parking facility near the campus. Gates are staffed Mon – Fri, 7:45 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with a reduced schedule during the summer.
Use public transportation whenever possible Getting to Berkeley by public transit can be easy! Visit the Parking & Transportation Office, located at 2150 Kittredge Street, for information on how to get to campus via public transportation, including Bay Area Rapid Transit (bart) or ac Transit (the East Bay's bus system). Visit 511.org or dial 5-1-1 for more information.
In addition to displaying a valid state-issued disabled parking placard, persons with disabilities must obtain a campus parking permit in order to park in a blue disabled parking (DP) space on campus. A vehicle parked in a campus blue disabled parking space is subject to citation and fines if displaying only a state-issued disabled parking placard/license, but no current campus permit. Persons with disabilities who already have a state-issued disability placard/license plate will generally use the same process to obtain a permit to park on campus as all other members of the Cal community.

Does anyone know what the deal is for Thursday night? On the admit students site it says something about a ceremony honoring diverse applicants? I arranged my plane ticket so that I get there early enough thursday I could go to it, but does anyone know exactly what that means?

not true. Public transportation is amazing, but parking is awful. Take the bus/bart.

Does anyone know what the options are for hotels/on-campus? I am flying in and have no place to stay at. Does Berkeley offer free rooms with other law students?

What times are you all coming/going? I'm flying in early afternoon Thursday, and leaving around 3pm Saturday . . . too early? Anyone have any idea the length/nature of the informal events going on Saturday, and are people planning on staying for them?
Edit: if no one knows, I'll call the admissions office tomorrow and post again

Undergrad here with some parking advice.
There are meters on the street, but don't plan on snagging one. There is an underground parking garage half a block from Boalt at Bancroft and Bowditch that is something like $7.50 (could be a bit more) for a day and you'll be able to find parking there.
Bancroft Way & Bowditch St, Berkeley, CA 94704

The admitted students site (which comes via e-mail) will tell you everything, including how to get Berkeley to pay for your flight. It's Thursday April 8th through Friday evening, with some informal stuff on Saturday afternoon.
