Silicon Valley - Open plan offices?

Hi there!
I'm a New Zealand corporate attorney planning on moving to a Big Law / private practice firm in Silicon Valley this year.
In NZ, almost all commercial law firms are set out in open plan -- i.e. there are no assigned offices and attorneys sit a few feet apart with only some dividers / partitions between them. I understand in the US, a lot of firms have offices for each individual attorney.
Is this the case in Palo Alto / San Francisco Bay Area? If so, does anyone know which firms are open plan and which firms are assigned offices based?
Cheers!
Damon
