Lateral into Project Finance

Post by lomp123 » Thu Mar 04, 2021 2:19 pm

Currently a corporate first year at a V10 without a strong project finance group. I’ve grown very interested in project finance and am interested in lateraling to a firm with a strong PF practice. I’ve heard that the sooner the better since PF has a steep learning curve. Does anyone have any advice on where to begin searching for openings/applying?

I’m my experience, these roles don’t get posted. I’ve gotten interviews/offers in this practice and maybe one was posted. The rest were cold emails. If your V10 doesn’t have a great group, try reaching out to firm/school alum. Do you have any relevant law school courses/experiences? Corporate to PF should be an easy move even without that though, especially coming from V10. Check if you have alum (undergrad, law school, firm, whatever) at WSGR, Akin, Vinson and other staples. Check out Chambers and other rankings and target the best ones.
