Pretty much the same-- I guess that's why I find myself hitting on a roast. Just kinda waiting it out, hoping for the best, and wondering when I'll actually know what's going on. Re: Cornell EA Deferred Crew
Word on the street is that Cornell is sloooowww. Like tied with UC Davis for slowest, And then of course there are those of us who will end up on the summer waitlist. I think we're going to have to make ourselves comfortable for a while. The nice thing is this thread doesn't have any of the "How DARE Cornell not let me in early action" people in it. I was getting sick of them...krispykitten wrote:Pretty much the same-- I guess that's why I find myself hitting on a roast. Re: Cornell EA Deferred Crew
The article about applications being up 52% at Cornell como posted in the other thread made me weep. I went from thinking "I might actually get it" to "fat fucking chance." I know that most of those applications are from completely unqualified hail marys and over qualified people who are scared abotu not getting in elsewhere. But I feel like the bump is enough to take my 168/3.5 out of the running. I had decided not to retake the LSAT next week, but now I think I might just bust out a few PTs and see what happens.krispykitten wrote:
Amen. Though if they do take that long, I guess that means I'll have to put down a deposit somewhere else. Ugh. I was kinda hoping to hear by April 1.

I know, right? fiftytwofuckingpercent?? Seriously?? I'm a 169/3.48 so I'm right there with you. I love the 'considering more carefully' part -- I was like, hey, that's us! Fuck. And I still haven't heard at Gtown, which was my other reach, and based off LSN I'm out so it's looking like it's down to BU/BC/W&M/WUSTL.jks289 wrote:The article about applications being up 52% at Cornell como posted in the other thread made me weep. I actually thought that quote was the one bright spot for us. I think it means they will be looking for people's motivations in applying. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a little YPing with the decisions. But overall... balls. Applying to law school is a bag of downs.krispykitten wrote:I know, right? fiftytwofuckingpercent?? I seriously hope so. I mentioned in my letter that if they let me in, I will be going there, hands down... so if it was YP that landed me in the deferral pile and not just "eh..." on the part of the adcoms, maybe that'll help... but since my gpa isn't > 75% I'm seriously doubting YP.jks289 wrote:I actually thought that quote was the one bright spot for us. I mean YP in the final decisions. I wonder what percentage of EA deferrals decided to stay in consideration, anyway. I told them that if they let me in I will attend and also that I would have their babies.krispykitten wrote: I seriously hope so. Oh, I get it now. Can't believe I didn't think to mention the having babies part though. I'd even change their dirty diapers. Sorry to be a downer, guys. I just thought I should give you some info regarding why the office is taking so long to get to everyone. However, I have a feeling the numbers will stay relatively similar, although maybe go up a touch. Really, I think there is a good chance they'll be doing some interviewing, but a lot of WLing.

How dare you come in here after break my heart?!? I kid, I kid. I do appreciate the article. I hadn't realized it was that bad, though there was an NPR piece about applications at Cornell a few weeks ago. I need to start making choices knowing all the information, including that Cornell is a longer shot than I thought. Honestly after reading that article we started look at apartments in Boston, and I almost, almost am getting excited about the prospect of going to BU. Of course, my heart still belongs to Ithaca.como wrote:Sorry to be a downer, guys. I just thought I should give you some info regarding why the office is taking so long to get to everyone. I really hope they get back to us soon. I know LSP is not the end all be all, but I am 'admit' according to it. I really don't think it was YP. If they are gonna toss out a bunch of WL's anyways I'd like to know sooner than later so I can withdraw.

How much can you possibly want to go to a school if you wouldn't stay on the waitlist? Why not withdraw now?hykang wrote:I really hope they get back to us soon. Re: Cornell EA Deferred Crew
Because if they offered me an attractive scholarship, perhaps I would consider it. If they offered a mediocre scholarship there is the possibility of using it as a bargaining chip to get money from other schools to which I have been offered admission. That's pretty much why.jks289 wrote:How much can you possibly want to go to a school if you wouldn't stay on the waitlist? Why not withdraw now?hykang wrote:I really hope they get back to us soon. Re: Cornell EA Deferred Crew
I missed the last post. Yes, neither my fiancee nor I are willing to spend our summer in limbo, not knowing what we're doing (partly because she needs to find employment and partially because I'm an international student and we'll be out of the country from late May through July, so we need to know what's going on by early May). And I agree, why would I limit my options?

Re: Cornell EA Deferred Crew
This comports with the pattern from last year. The first round of EA-deferred-accepts was the first week of March I believe. ONE MORE MONTH OF AGONY.SanBun wrote:word on the street has it they will start the second review round beginning of Marchkrispykitten wrote:No. Rumor has it that it could be a while...
